From quietening cockerels to translating tattoos, the 'bizarre' tourist requests received by the British 領事の


When you think of British 領事の 援助 overseas, nightmare シナリオs usually come to mind.

But it seems not everyone has the same idea of what 構成するs an 緊急, the Foreign and 連邦/共和国 Office (FCO) has 明らかにする/漏らすd.

In Rome, a man asked 公式の/役人s to translate a phrase for a tattoo he 手配中の,お尋ね者 to have 署名/調印するd.

一方/合間 in Tel Aviv, イスラエル , a woman requested that 領事の staff order her husband to get fit and eat healthily so that they could start a family.

The FCO also said that its staff in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were asked if they could help 支払う/賃金 to send a couple's children to an international school, while a man in Stockholm asked 公式の/役人s to check the 信任状 of a woman he had met online.

Staff were often asked where the best place to watch football was, the FCO 追加するd. Other requests 含むd "供給するing 接触する 詳細(に述べる)s for Sir Paul McCartney’s wife" and help in 解決するing a £1,000 bet on the colour of the British パスポート.

Between 2012 and 2013, the FCO 扱うd more than a million 領事の 調査s and supported some 52,135 British 国家のs in difficulty abroad.

領事の 事件/事情/状勢s 大臣 示す Simmonds 追加するd: "FCO staff help many thousands of British 国家のs 直面するing serious difficulties around the world every year. We also receive over a million 調査s each year, so it is important that people understand what we can and cannot do to support them when they are abroad.

"We are not in a position to help people make travel 手はず/準備 or social 計画(する)s, but we do help those who 直面する real problems abroad. These can 含む 犠牲者s of 罪,犯罪, (死が)奪い去るd families who have lost a loved one abroad or Britons who have been 逮捕(する)d or 拘留するd."

He 追加するd: "We 目的(とする) to continue to 焦点(を合わせる) on supporting those who really need our help in the coming year."

It cannot:

Help you enter a country if you do not have a valid パスポート or necessary ビザs

Give you 合法的な advice or translate 文書s

調査/捜査する 罪,犯罪s or get you out of 刑務所,拘置所

Get you better 治療 in hospital or 刑務所,拘置所 than is given to 地元の people

支払う/賃金 any 法案s or give you money

Make travel 手はず/準備 for you
