I started a 壇・綱領・公約 to help artisans make money from workshops: Wecandoo's 創立者 on making a crafty 利益(をあげる)

With いっそう少なく cash in the 普通の/平均(する) 消費者’s pocket, small 商売/仕事s are having to think outside of the box to get 顧客s through the door.

Many are turning to selling experiences rather than 製品s to 生成する more cash and 供給する their 顧客s with something a bit different.

This has been 特に popular in the food and drink 産業, but now one 壇・綱領・公約 thinks it could do the same for crafters.

Wecandoo, which 開始する,打ち上げるd in フラン in January 2017, helps artisans connect with 顧客s by creating workshops which can earn them thousands of 続けざまに猛撃するs a month.

We speak to CEO Edouard Eyglunent about the UK 開始する,打ち上げる and how it could help struggling small 商売/仕事s.

What is Wecandoo??

Wecandoo’s co-創立者s Edoua rd Eyglunent, Gregoire Hugon and Arnaud Tiret grew up in フラン, 利益/興味d in and surrounded by (手先の)技術 製造者s.

Believing that there are plenty of misconceptions around artisan work and that there could be a better way for people to make money or a living from their (手先の)技術, they (機の)カム up with the idea for Wecandoo six years ago.

The Wecandoo 壇・綱領・公約 helps to 容易にする workshops on に代わって of artisans and has 設立する success in フラン, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Rather than taking a 消費者-first approach as other 壇・綱領・公約s do, though, CEO Eyglunent, says he leans instead ‘on the artisan 味方する… because we want to support them in their daily activity and change the 視野 on what handmade 製品s are.’

As such, the 基準 for joining Wecandoo is 比較して tight. 製造者s must have at least two years of experience in their (手先の)技術 or be a trained professional and have their own studio outside their home.

‘There are 確かな (手先の)技術s that people can learn. It shouldn’t be too difficult and 顧客s should be able to bring something home with them. We can’t really work with a 建設業者, you can’t go home with a 塀で囲む,’ he says.

Making money from (手先の)技術 workshops

While 確かな types of (手先の)技術s are more popular than others - すなわち food and drink and ceramics - over 150 (手先の)技術s are on 申し込む/申し出.

製造者s can 調印する up online and have a phone call with one of the team to 評価する the types of workshop possible. Wecandoo then takes a 20 per cent 削減(する) of what the artisan makes from each workshop.

Workshops aren’t a new 現象 though, and for small 商売/仕事s a 20 per cent (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 could 現在の a hefty chunk of their income.

As more small 商売/仕事s start to recognise the value of experiences over goods, what’s stopping them from going out on their own?

‘We 扱う all 顧客 support which can be painful. Most of the time… 製造者s don’t want to get 乱すd by phone calls. 類似して, we take care of 出席 meaning if the 最小限 number isn’t reached, we 取って代わる with another slot,’ says Eyglunent.

‘It’s 平易な for them, they just have to be there on the day and that’s all.’

The 壇・綱領・公約 also 申し込む/申し出s artisans training on managing social マスコミ pages, calculating the 権利 prices for 製品s and even help on 合法的な 事柄s. It's this support that makes Wecandoo different to competitors like Class Bento and (手先の)技術 Courses, says Eyglunent.

He 追加するs: ‘Most of the time 独立した・無所属 artisans you tend to be やめる alone. When you’re in a community you’re going to make より小数の mistakes.’

It also means Wecandoo look closely at how 井戸/弁護士席 new crafters are doing on the 壇・綱領・公約.?

They are placed in an ‘incubation period’ for three months and the team look at traffic to their page and the 転換 率.?

If they 港/避難所’t made any sales in this period, they’re placed in the ‘nursery’ and the team will rejig the 判型 of the workshop.

This artisan-first approach seems to have worked in Wecandoo’s favour. It has supported over 2,500 artisans across Europe and 早期に partners saw a 40 per cent 増加する in activity に引き続いて a workshop.

開始 the door to part-time crafters?

One big change the 壇・綱領・公約 has made in 最近の years, is 開始 the 壇・綱領・公約 up to part-time crafters. 以前, the 壇・綱領・公約 only 受託するd those who were artisans 十分な-time and their main activity.

Eyglunent says: ‘In Covid, about 50 per cent of our 製造者s had to take another 職業 to make ends 会合,会う. So we opened it up - the only thing we ask is for a studio. So it could be a part-time 職業 then you have to get a studio to host people.’

While the 壇・綱領・公約 許すs artisans to rent a studio for the workshop, that is a 高くつく/犠牲の大きい upfront cost, 特に in London where Wecandoo recently 開始する,打ち上げるd.

While the company (人命などを)奪う,主張するs artisans can make £1,000 per month through workshops, the 初期の 支出 is hefty and it’s not 保証(人)d to 変える into その上の sales.

However, half of the artisans on the 壇・綱領・公約 started out part-time, and around a fifth still use it as a 味方する hustle.

Will Wecandoo work in the UK?

Eyglunent and his team now think that they can replicate their French success in the UK, having 開始する,打ち上げるd in London in July with 目的(とする)s to 拡大する over the coming months.

The 壇・綱領・公約 現在/一般に has 91 workshops on 申し込む/申し出 in London, but the UK is a very different market to フラン.?

Eyglunent says that artisans in the UK are ‘more equipped, they know how to take bookings, have a good website. We don’t have to 供給する everything [here], because the 製造者s tend to be more entrepreneurial.’

That might make it easier for Wecandoo ーに関して/ーの点でs of support, but some workshops cost up to £200. Will 顧客 需要・要求する be there??

Eyglun ent recognises it isn’t for everyone but he thinks people are more willing to spend money on experiences in the UK.

He says: ‘At a 確かな level of income, you consider 異なって how you spend your money. Maybe you’ve had enough of buying stuff and want to 支払う/賃金 for memories. That’s what we do, we create memories for people in the workshops.’

Even so, workshops don’t tend to be repeat 商売/仕事. Once you’ve been to one cheesemaking workshop, it’s ありそうもない you’ll go every week from then on.

So how can crafters keep up 需要・要求する for their workshops??

Eyglunent says: ‘We have 顧客s who give gifts and this doesn’t tend to repeat a lot, maybe two or three times a year. There’s ones who 調書をとる/予約する for themselves 個々に and then ones that like to organise for friends or 同僚s. There’s a different type of repeat 率 for different 顧客s.’

Wecandoo can help their 商売/仕事, but (電話線からの)盗聴 into the 願望(する) for experiences, working out a way to get repeat 顧客s and 押し進めるing word of mouth referrals would seem to be 決定的な to success for those hoping to make money from their (手先の)技術.

It's not an 平易な endeavour but for many it 連合させるs a 商売/仕事 and their passion and the 壇・綱領・公約 can help.?

That said, the cost of raw 構成要素s and studio rent continues to be 天文学の, 特に in the 資本/首都, and there is little 明言する/公表する support for small 商売/仕事s. This is likely to filter 負かす/撃墜する to the cost of workshops too.

It makes it a difficult time to 開始する,打ち上げる an already niche 壇・綱領・公約 but it could 井戸/弁護士席 現在の Wecandoo with the 適切な時期 to support the UK’s smallest 商売/仕事s.
