'Camilla? She's a 血まみれの brick': The Queen will be with Charles every step of the way. And their ability to laugh together will be needed more than ever during this health 危機, 令状s REBECCA ENGLISH

‘Friendship, love and 尊敬(する)・点. That’s what makes them tick,’ a の近くに friend of the King and Queen told me recently.

‘They are やめる different people in many ways, but at the heart of it you have two people who just really love and 尊敬(する)・点 each other and still laugh an awful lot. It’s genuinely 甘い.’

It’s a 判決 強調d by Annabel Elliot, Camilla’s sister, who 述べるd them in a BBC interview last month as ‘yin and yang’, but an utterly ‘brilliant’ team.

And it’s why I have no 疑問 that Queen Camilla will be more of a 激しく揺する than ever to the King over the difficult months to come.

Of course the 苦しめるing news that her husband has been 診断するd with will come as a 抱擁する blow to Her Majesty.

From the moment they first fell in love in their 早期に 20s, Charles and Camilla’s lives have been inextricably entwined.

While theirs has not been a 従来の love story - indeed at one point the late Queen Elizabeth 恐れるd the couple’s passion could 証明する the downfall of the 君主国 - it is one which, 最終的に, may be considered one of the most 耐えるing of our times.

Indeed, Their Majesties are 予定 to celebrate their 20th wedding 周年記念日 next year, a 目印 which many would have thought utterly impossible once upon a time.

But the Queen is also stoic ? the very 鮮明度/定義 of the British stiff upper lip - and someone who takes things very much in her stride.

Her approach to this 破滅的な news will, I am sure, be typically 静める and pragmatic, and she will 主張する on 存在 there by her husband’s 味方する, supporting him every step of the way.

Indeed last night, I can 明らかにする/漏らす, she was with him at Clarence House as he returned to London to begin out-患者 hospital 治療.

And I am told that while she is understandably 関心d and 準備するing to play ‘an important 役割 in supporting The King throughout his period of 治療’, she 計画(する)s to continue with a 十分な programme of public 義務s at the same time.

That British stiff upper lip again.

‘She’s a 血まみれの brick,’ a friend says.

Ironically, in the 早期に days of their marriage it was Charles who was more 保護の of Camilla, knowing the enormity of what she had taken on to be by his 味方する.

Queen Camilla is 準備するing to play ‘an important 役割 in supporting The King throughout his period of 治療’

During their first 公式の/役人 小旅行する to the US に引き続いて their 2005 wedding, I watched as the 未来 king instinctively reached out across the aisle of our 計画(する) and squeezed his wife’s shaking 手渡す as we took off as he knew how terrified she was of 飛行機で行くing (although I also subsequently heard him yelp during one 特に bumpy flight: ‘Darling, please don’t 持つ/拘留する me QUITE so hard!’)

But over the years Camilla has bloomed, growing in 信用/信任 under the often 深く,強烈に cruel public スポットライト and 収入 賞賛 for her work ethic and 信用/信任 in taking on unfashionable 原因(となる)s.

It’s not always been plain sailing, of course.

Camilla’s 関係 with William and Harry has always been 特に コンビナート/複合体.

But, 個人として, William does 認める how happy Camilla has made their father and is appreciative of the fact she has never tried to 干渉する in their lives.

There’s also 賞賛 for the way she has diligently embraced 王室の 義務s at a time of life when most would be slowing 負かす/撃墜する - without a squeak of (民事の)告訴.

‘The King and Queen know what their 役割s are, why they are doing it and what they want to 達成する. She has become ますます bold in the work she does, 掴むing on difficult 問題/発行するs such as 国内の 暴力/激しさ, but doesn’t tread on his toes. They work 井戸/弁護士席 together and there’s a lot of 相互の 信用,’ the friend said.

That same 社債 is evident in 私的な 同様に.

‘They get on, they 株 the same sense of humour and make each other laugh. They have the same 利益/興味s - the countryside, walking, their dogs..... and, yes, the Queen knows when to (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 a 迅速な 退却/保養地 too. She knows when to give him his space,’ another source 追加するs.

While she is ひどく supportive of her husband’s devotion to the 原因(となる)s he 持つ/拘留するs dear, Camilla is also not above affectionately pricking that earnestness every now and again.

On more than one occasion over the years I’ve caught her 注目する,もくろむ as her husband waxes lyrical over a 原因(となる) の近くに to his heart, a knowing smile flickering on her lips and a mischievous glint in her 注目する,もくろむ.

King Charles wears the Robe of Estate and Imperial State Crown - and holds the Sovereign's Orb and Sceptre in Buckingham's Palace's Throne Room during his Coronation last year

King Charles wears the 式服 of 広い地所 and 皇室の 明言する/公表する 栄冠を与える - and 持つ/拘留するs the 君主's Orb and Sceptre in Buckingham's Palace's 王位 Room during his 載冠(式)/即位(式) last year

During an 公式訪問 to Egypt several years ago, the entire 王室の 側近 were 軍隊d to somewhat rough it in modest mud brick houses because Charles was so keen to visit an eco-friendly, electricity 解放する/自由な village.

His wife confided in me later, まっただ中に much jokey 注目する,もくろむ-rolling, that the 欠如(する) of plug sockets was ‘all 井戸/弁護士席 and good if you don’t need to use a blooming hair dryer’.

But don’t mistake her ability to いつかs laugh at the absurdities of the position she has 設立する herself in as a 調印する of casual distain. Queen Camilla is ひどく loyal to ‘her man’ - and woe betide anyone who disrespects him.

‘It sounds so horribly clich?d but she genuinely 尊敬(する)・点s her husband, his 運動, his passion to change the world for the better,’ says another confidante.

‘She is his fiercest 支持する/優勝者 and no-one should ever underestimate her 忠義 to him. They come as a team. Disrespect him at your 危険,危なくする.’

Indeed, I have never, in all my years working with her, heard Camilla ever 言及する to her husband as anything いっそう少なく than ‘His 王室の Highness, the Prince, the King or His Majesty’, even in 私的な.

‘She has 抱擁する 尊敬(する)・点 for her husband as a King, 同様に as a man, and the 会・原則 of the 君主国,’ another source 追加するs. ‘That’s something Queen Elizabeth (機の)カム to admire too.’

And one friend tells me that if Camilla is seen to be tolerant of her husband’s quirks, then he is 平等に 患者 with hers.

‘He has brought, how shall I put it, a little discipline to her, um, somewhat disorganised 決まりきった仕事,’ they 発言/述べるd wryly, with a nod to Camilla’s 悪名高い untidiness and 以前 rather ‘relaxed’ 態度 to life.

Of course there is occasionally 摩擦.

The King can get tetchy when his wife 雑談(する)s too much. She wishes he would slow 負かす/撃墜する, just a touch.

But they are minor, run-of-the-mill 結婚の/夫婦の squabbles in the 計画/陰謀 of things and the King is 明確に 感謝する to have someone to 株 this rather strange and いつかs lonely life with.

One only had to see the smile of undisguised pride that lit up his 直面する when he saw his wife walk out in her 載冠(式)/即位(式) finery at Buckingham Palace last May to understand just how much she means to him.

They still own separate homes: Camilla has Raymill in Wiltshire, bought as a 選び出す/独身 woman, where she enjoys an informal 存在 away from the rigorous of palace life, while Charles still adores the formal/informality of Highgrove in nearby Gloucestershire.

But they are still limpet-の近くに, 確信して enough in their 関係 that they can 簡単に sit in a room, reading, without 説 a word ? just the 時折の smile.

Charles has also embraced Camilla’s family like his own. He is hugely の近くに to her sister, Annabel, who will 供給する a shoulder to cry on for her sister having lost her husband to a long-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 illness just days before the 載冠(式)/即位(式) last year.

And he adores her children, Tom and Laura, 同様に as her five grandchildren.

During an interview five years ago, Camilla told me how her husband was a brilliant story-teller, 定期的に reading the children bedtime stories, 特に Harry Potter, and doing all the different 発言する/表明するs for them. They were always mesmerised, she said.

It is a 味方する to the King that few get to hear about.

Above all there is laughter. The 肉親,親類d of painful, gut-wrenching laughter that leaves you weak in the 膝s.

On 王室の 約束/交戦s you will often see the couple literally crying at a 株d joke, 死体ing again and again as they catch each other's 注目する,もくろむ ? no mean feat after 18 years of marriage ? 特に when things don’t やめる go to 計画(する).

Laughter is something that they will, as a couple, need more than ever as they 直面する the King’s 現在の health 危機.

And like everything in life, it is something they will approach together, 部隊d.

King and Queen, but, more importantly, husband and wife.
