Kevin O'Connell was just six when he first stayed on Caldey Island. His experience would change his life forever

Whilst on the island, Kevin met Father Thaddeus Kotik (pictured on the island with a child) who he says 強姦d him

Kevin O'Connell was just six when he first stayed on Caldey Island for a family holiday with his parents and siblings.

It was a 解放する／自由な holiday arranged by the カトリック教徒 Church in 田舎の Carmarthenshire where he grew up.

By the time he was nine he had been selected as an altar boy and returned to the island for a week as part of his training. This time alone.

He said: 'When I first saw Caldey from the boat it looked like 楽園, the long beach 負担s of children playing and having fun.

'A 修道士 （機の）カム over and said to me he was a friend of my parents, and I recognised him as Father Thaddeus Kotik.

'He started taking me away from my group of children and spending time sitting in the sand dunes, eating chocolate. He would 一打／打撃 my hair and kiss the 最高の，を越す of my 長，率いる.'

Young Kevin returned to the island for a holiday the next year with this 場所／位置 Rebecca and this time he （人命などを）奪う，主張するs Father Thaddeus and other 修道士s sexually 乱用d him.

'My sister would run up to me on the beach and we would 抱擁する - she had also been 強姦d by Father Thaddeus.

He says he was told if he ever spoke about the 修道士s, God would turn his 支援する on him and the devil would take him.

The priest told the terrified schoolboy that a 厳しいd 手渡す would come through his letter box at night and strangled him in his bed.

To this day Mr O'Connell has never lived in a house with a 前線 door letter box.

Against his wishes Kevin, now 11, was sent to the island for a third visit, this time with his younger brother who he watched over in 恐れる that Father Thaddeus would start 乱用ing him.

During that stay young Kevin was 設立する in the grounds of the abbey with a fractured skull and was taken to hospital on the 本土／大陸.

Mr O'Connell met his wife Carol in 1983 but it wasn't until years later that he told her about the 乱用 he'd 苦しむd at the 手渡すs of Father Thaddeus and other 修道士s.

A woman who was paid 補償（金） for 存在 （性的に）いたずらするd by a 修道士 on Caldey Island says she was 'one to thousands' 乱用d by evil Father Thaddeus.

The 犠牲者, now in her 早期に forties, said Thaddeus called the children his 'little angels' and plied them with chocolates, 甘いs and toys.

She was just three when the perverted 修道士 led her into the island's 酪農場 where he sexually 強襲，強姦d children while their parents were nearby.

The woman, who doesn't want to be 指名するd, received £9,500 in 補償（金） from Caldey Abbey in an 示談, a 人物／姿／数字 which she 述べるd as 'pathetic'.

The 犠牲者 lived on Caldey in the 1970s when her father worked on the island's farm.

She said: 'I don't know when it started because I was too young to remember but I can 解任する things that happened when I was about three.

'He was manipulative, he knew what children liked. We would play and make dens. He would call us his little angels.

She said: 'It was only Father Thaddeus who 乱用d me but there were other 修道士s and 訓練生 priests there. We were looked after by a lot of strangers.

'The Abbott must have known what was happening but I believe he turned a blind 注目する，もくろむ to it. If the police had been brought in that would have 脅すd their whole way of life on the island.

'Father Thaddeus was a prolific paedophile and when I was older and in school on the 本土／大陸 I told my headmaster what had happened to me on Caldey.

'He wrote a letter to the Abbott at the time b ut nothing happened, I remember they said father Thaddeus was ill and to 'leave it alone'.

'I've been angry all my life that he never got 報告（する）／憶測d to the police and never stood 裁判，公判. He got away with it.

'He was 責任がある sexually 乱用ing thousands of children, not just us who were living on the island.

'Children would come over on day trips, he would be the guide and would use that position to touch children during the short time they were there.

'He was 露骨な／あからさまの about it because he knew he could get away with it.'

The woman, who still lives in むちの跡s, said her parents and others living on the island 辞退するd to believe that a 修道士 could be grooming children for his 性の 楽しみ.

The 犠牲者 said: 'My mother was very 宗教的な, we were all Roman カトリック教徒s. She believed that priests and 修道士s could do no wrong.

'She thought Father Thaddeus was a 宗教上の man and that he children were 安全な with him.'

Father Thaddeus even wrote to the woman's mother 説: 'How much I 借りがある you for your children's love for me?' The letter is 調印するd Thad.

After leaving the island the girl had a troubled life, drank ひどく and was 診断するd with PTSD from her 早期に years on Caldey.

She was one of six women who were 補償するd and received just £9,500 from the Cistercian abbey a mile away from the seaside 訴える手段／行楽地 of Tenby.

She said: 'It was a pathetic 量 for a life 十分な of 悲惨 and after 影響s. I took the money because I felt I 手配中の，お尋ね者 終結. But the 修道士s never apologised, they have always been arrogant about what happened to children on the island.'

The woman, who is now middle 老年の, said she and her family would frequently holiday on the island throughout the 1970s as her parents had a second home there.

She said: 'My grandparents did voluntary work for the 修道士s and my mother had my two younger brothers to look after, so she was 感謝する my sister and I were out of the house.'?

It was whilst they wandered the island that they 遭遇（する）d Kotik. That's where the nightmare began.?

The 乱用 occured on the island from 1972 to 1976, at which point she says they started puberty, and Kotik lost 利益／興味

She continued: 'We put up with this awful 味方する of things.??He had these rough, rusty 手渡すs.

'He was always trying to cuddle us, and we would squirm because he stank of 団体／死体 odour.

'He also 乱用d the 農業者's daughters, and they were babies. It was just 甚だしい／１２ダース.

'My mother would be washing up at the kitchen 沈む, and one of us would be on his （競技場の）トラック一周. And he would be putting his 手渡すs up our skirts while my mother was at the kitchen 沈む.'?
