'I can't imagine how things could be any worse,' says one 退役軍人 SNP 政治家，政治屋. 'Independence is 適切に dead for at least a 世代 and the party's 落ちるing apart. How's your day going?'
Humza Yousaf's 辞職, little more than a year after he 後継するd Nicola Sturgeon as First 大臣, has brought to a 長，率いる long-festering 緊張s within the SNP and across the independence movement.
The once seemingly unstoppable 国家主義者 machine has careered off the road and lies smoking in a 溝へはまらせる／不時着する. Former 同盟（する）s who sat shoulder-to-shoulder on that UK-粉砕するing juggernaut now 貿易（する） bitter, playground-level 侮辱s in public.
And まっただ中に it all, the people of Scotland?? crying out for decent, stable 政府?? are 推定する／予想するd to indulge yet another SNP psychodrama.
A number of experienced 人物／姿／数字s with the party do not believe the public's patience will last.
First 大臣 Humza Yousaf 辞職するs に引き続いて a call for a no 信用／信任 投票（する） in his leadership
One former 政治家，政治屋 and 上級の strategist says: 'Okay, we have to 受託する things had been bad for a while but if you looked at the 投票ing it wasn't all 完全に terrible. We've known for a long time we were going to lose seats at the next General 選挙 but the 調印するs were we were still going to come out of [the next Holyrood 選挙 in] 2026 as the biggest party.
'We can forget that, now. If the whole house comes 負かす／撃墜する and we 結局最後にはーなる with a snap Holyrood 選挙, what's our big message? 投票（する） for us and we'll try not to **** things up so 不正に next time? 投票（する） someone that the Greens like for First 大臣?'
For another long-serving 議会人, the 損失 to the party 原因（となる）d by loss to 労働 in a Scottish 議会の 選挙 would be 'incalculable'.
'We just about destroyed 労働 15 years ago. Does anyone think we could go from that to them （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域ing us and it not having a serious, long-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 影響?
'When people abandoned 労働 for us, they 絶対 turned on them. Why wouldn't they do the same to us when they leave us for 労働? It'll be all "I didn't leave the SNP, the SNP left me" and we're going to be this nice big repository for everyone's 怒り／怒る.'
After １０年間s of 存在 hopelessly 分裂（する） over the 訂正する approach to the 憲法の question?? the 根本主義s preferred a 過激な, 積極的な （選挙などの）運動をするing style, 需要・要求するing 'independence, nothing いっそう少なく' while the gradualists preferred a 用心深い, step-by-step approach, embracing devolution and seeing independence as a slower 過程?? the SNP entered, on the return of Alex Salmond in 2004 for his second （一定の）期間 as leader, a remarkable period of まとまり.
The 国家主義者s 決起大会／結集させるd behind that gradualist approach and?? with a 一連の 約束s that fooled a 重要な number of 労働 支持者s into believing the SNP was a 進歩／革新的な party?? won their first Holyrood 選挙 in 2007.
Salmond and his 副, Nicola Sturgeon, 持続するd rigid discipline in the SNP and その上の rewards were to come. The winning of an 全体にわたる 大多数 in the 2011 Holyrood 選挙 opened the door to that long dreamed-of independence 国民投票.
New 同盟s were formed. The 国家主義者 Scottish Green party （選挙などの）運動をするd, arm in arm, with the SNP. Nicola Sturgeon and Green co-leader Patrick Harvie formed a 二塁打-行為／法令／行動する, pitching for the 投票（する）s of younger Scots and endlessly (and nauseatingly) singing each others 賞賛するs.
重要な to this 長引かせるd period of discipline was the 乗り気 of 政治家，政治屋s with radically different beliefs to 部隊 in the 指名する of breaking up the 部隊d Kingdom. In an 独立した・無所属 Scotland, the socially and fiscally 保守的な former SNP 副 First 大臣 John Swinney and the self-styled firebrand of the Scottish Greens, Ross Greer, would be the bitterest of political 敵s. Mr Greer might think Mr Swinney a dangerous reactionary while Mr Swinney might 許す himself to think Mr Greer a buffoon. But in 2014?? and for a long time afterwards?? they and other ありそうもない 同盟（する）s put 重要な differences aside ーするために その上の the independence 事業／計画（する）.
That discipline began to creak and 緊張する after the 2017 総選挙 when, after then First 大臣 Ms Sturgeon misjudged the public appetite for a second 国民投票, the SNP lost 21 seats.
にもかかわらず recognising that she had been wrong to think the Brexit result would 上げる support for independence, Ms Sturgeon seemed almost pathologically incapable of 事実上の／代理 accordingly. She continued to 約束 a 国民投票 she had no 力／強力にする to 配達する.

Along with antagonising 投票者s and 同僚s alike with what 量d to empty 脅しs of 憲法の 大混乱, Ms Sturgeon began 焦点（を合わせる）ing on 政策s which put her even その上の at 半端物s with the 大多数 of the public.
Her 決定／判定勝ち（する）, in 2021, to bring the Scottish Greens into 政府 may have created a プロの／賛成の-independence 大多数 政府 but a number of her 同僚s were 関心d about 手渡すing 力／強力にする to a fringe party that doesn't believe in 経済成長. And her monomania over the 事柄 of 改革（する）ing the Gender 承認 行為／法令／行動する, making it possible for people to self-identify into the 合法的に-recognised 'sex' of their choosing saw her 衝突／不一致 with political 対抗者s and high profile feminists from across the spectrum. Women?? such as the 小説家 and philanthropist JK Rowling, the 退役軍人 feminist 選挙運動者 Julie Bindel, and the SNP MP Joanna Cherry?? who expre ssed 関心s about 法律制定 that would 許す men into 女性（の）-only spaces were 解任するd by Ms Sturgeon.
With 最高の arrogance, the former First 大臣 （刑事）被告 those with 本物の 関心s of bigotry.
SNP MSPs may have lined up in December 2022 to 支援する 改革（する） of the GRA but, 個人として, a number were 深く，強烈に uncomfortable about doing so.
The unravelling of the 法律制定?? so 貧しく conceived and 草案d that Scottish 長官 Alister Jack was 軍隊d to 封鎖する it because it stood to 土台を崩す the UK-wide Equality 行為／法令／行動する?? 増加するd the level of unease in SNP 階級s.
When Mr Yousaf 後継するd Ms Sturgeon last March, he made the 致命的な mistake of continuing with her 協議事項 and hoping this would 達成する a different result for his party.
In fact, all Mr Yousaf has 達成するd is to 悪化させる and then 公然と expose 深い and ever 広げるing 分裂（する）s in the SNP and across the wider Yes movement.
Not only are 国家主義者 政治家，政治屋s again at 半端物s over how to 達成する independence, they are 分裂（する） over 議論の的になる 問題／発行するs like gender 改革（する）.
One long serving SNP 議会人 says much worse is to come for their party.
'Whoever takes over can't turn this 一連の会議、交渉／完成する. We've got the Unionist parties out for 血 and the Greens trying to dictate who's an 許容できる 候補者 for SNP leader and we just look a mess. We look a mess because we are a mess, by the way, in 事例／患者 there's any 疑問.'
The 政治家，政治屋 said all the discipline the party built up 20 years ago has gone, 追加するing: 'We're going to have people fighting over 戦略 or whether you should give puberty blockers to kids and 投票者s are going to look at us and think we look deranged.
'It's grim. All that 成果／努力 to make the party a viable proper politica l party that could 勝利，勝つ 選挙s and now we're a laughing 在庫／株.
'People 投資するd a lot in us when they switched their 投票（する）s and we've 全く let them 負かす／撃墜する. I won't 非難する them when they 減少（する） us.
'We're all going to have to say everything's looking 広大な／多数の／重要な when we get a new leader but it's not going to look 広大な／多数の／重要な. It's just going to look like someone else is in 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金 while the whole thing 落ちるs apart.'
