Swinney may be party favourite 'but public wants Forbes in Bute House'

The Ipsos 調査する carried out after Humza Yousaf’s 辞職 showed that Ms Forbes was chosen from a 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) of SNP 候補者s by 26 per cent of 回答者/被告s, compared with 20 per cent who 選ぶd for Mr Swinney.

But Mr Swinney was selected by 30 per cent of SNP 投票者s, compared with 21 per cent who chose Ms Forbes.

It comes as 指名/任命s opened for 候補者s to 後継する Mr Yousaf, with a long line of SNP 人物/姿/数字s 支援 the former 副 First 大臣 to enter Bute House.

But the 投票 shows Ms Forbes, who 辛うじて lost out in last year’s contest, is more popular with the general public.

Stephen Flynn, the SNP Westminster leader, was chosen by 7 per cent of 回答者/被告s, followed by 4 per cent for 憲法 長官 Angus Robertson, 2 per cent for 副 First 大臣 Shona Robison and also for 逮捕する 無 長官 Mairi McAllan.

Emily Gray, managing director of Ipsos in Scotland, said: ‘These new results taken after Humza Yousaf’s 辞職 示す that John Swinney would be a more popular choice の中で SNP 投票者s to 取って代わる him as First 大臣 than Kate Forbes would be.?

However, Forbes has a seven-point lead over Swinney when it comes to who the wider public think would make the best First 大臣.

In last year’s leadership contest, Ms Forbes tore into the SNP’s 記録,記録的な/記録する under Nicola Sturgeon and said that ‘連続 won’t 削減(する) it’.

The Ipsos 調査する of 1,127 Scottish adults on Mr Yousaf’s 辞職, carried out on April 29-30, 設立する that eight in ten people said he made the 権利 決定/判定勝ち(する) to step 負かす/撃墜する, while only one in ten said it was the wrong 決定/判定勝ち(する).

Mr Swinney and Ms Forbes were tied on who would do a good 職業 as First 大臣, on 37 per cent.

But 39 per cent of 回答者/被告s thought 労働 would do a better 職業 than the SNP at running the 政府, compared to 27 per cent who said it would do a worse 職業.
