The film starred Steve McQueen as Captain Virgil Hilts, James 獲得する as Flight 中尉/大尉/警部補 Robert Hendley and Richard Attenborough as 騎兵大隊 Leader Roger Bartlett, and was based on a 調書をとる/予約する of the same 指名する by Paul Brickhill.

Contrary to the film, no American PoWs were 伴う/関わるd in the escape 試みる/企てる, and there were no escapes by motorcycle or 航空機.

Hilts' dash for the 国境 by motorcycle was 追加するd by request of McQueen, who did the stunt riding himself except for the final jump.
