Everyone loves a 取引, 特に petrolheads.?

And for car 熱中している人 Michael Davidson snagging a high-spec model with hardly any miles on the clock was too good an 適切な時期 to turn 負かす/撃墜する... even?if that car is 力/強力にするd by 殴打/砲列s and an electric モーター.

The 最近の 劇の 拒絶する/低下する in used electric 乗り物 (EV) values means prices are more attainable than ever - and in some 事例/患者s too good to keep car nuts chained to 燃焼 engines.

A Mazda MX-30 GT Sport Tech?was Michael's choice for his first foray into electric cars. Here he tells us about his first-手渡す experience of switching to an EV.

Michael Davidson was a confirmed petrolhead until he saw the price of a nearly-new EV would be compared to an equivalent petrol car, and realised he and his partner could get a much higher-spec car for almost half the money. The Mazda MX-30

Michael got a 取引, 'joining the dark 味方する' with the 最高の,を越す 削減する MX-30 for just £19,000 at a 地元の Vauxhall dealership

That Mazda 小売d for?£29,845 new when it 開始する,打ち上げるd in 2021 and the MX-30 現在/一般に costs between £31,250 and £35,550. With only 900 miles on the clock, his car was almost factory new.

After looking at the price of used year-old EVs on 自動車 仲買人, Michael and his partner Denise were sold on the idea of 存在 able to get a more 賞与金 car for いっそう少なく money than a 石油 同等(の) would cost them, thanks to low used EV prices.

'The way used EVs prices are at the moment meant?I was able to get into a much nicer car (Michael's comes with a 'Brilliant 黒人/ボイコット' roof and silver 味方する パネル盤s) than I'd have been able to afford just because of the sort of the 価値低下 on year-old ones'.

In Michael's 事例/患者 the position of the market, 連合させるd with the Vauxhall dealership, where the car had been part 交流d, not knowing much about that 明確な/細部 Mazda model, made 物々交換するing easier.

'For us, the MX-30 in particular was perfect, because I 現実に like the quirks of it - like the 逆転する-hinge doors.?

'They ふさわしい me and I used them to get a better price from the dealership which wasn't familiar with this EV. It's only got a 公正に/かなり small 殴打/砲列 - 35 kilowatt hours - so the?範囲 is やめる small, but we don't go very far and I can 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 at home.'

The used EV market price 拒絶する/低下する was 広範囲にわたって 報告(する)/憶測d by This is Money last year.?

The 10 biggest depreciating EVs last year lost over 39 per cent of the value compared to 12 months earlier - and older models were 攻撃する,衝突する just as hard.

最近の This is Money ニュース報道 of data 解放(する)d by HonkHonk also shows that, in a 調査する of?66 独立した・無所属 売買業者s across the country, more than half said their 意向 to 購入(する) 在庫/株 of EVs had 拒絶する/低下するd?予定 to the 落ちる in values and 落ちる in sales of new 殴打/砲列 cars to the public.

However, while new EV 私的な sales continue to 高原 thanks to the 欠如(する) of incentives, 自動車 仲買人 and The Society of モーター 製造業者s and 仲買人s (SMMT) data 示唆するs the used car market is fairing better.?

In 自動車 仲買人's?February 小売 Price 索引, which 分析 around 800,000 モーターs for sale on its online 壇・綱領・公約, 需要・要求する for second-手渡す EVs appeared healthy.

Electric cars '殺到するd a 大規模な 81.5 per cent year- on-year in February' and?a -1.1 per cent 落ちる in 供給(する) drove a 大規模な 83.6 per cent 増加する in what it calls 'market health'.

によれば the SMMT, 2023 sales of EVs almost 二塁打d - up by 90.9 per cent - to 119,000 部隊s last year. This was a 記録,記録的な/記録する level with EVs now accounting for 1.6 per cent market 株 ? up 0.9 per cent from 2022.

In 新規加入 to a?欠如(する) of 公式の/役人 補助金 incentives, a?推論する/理由 that the used EV market could be taking a 攻撃する,衝突する and overlooked by 私的な 買い手s is because getting a new EV through work salary sacrifice 計画/陰謀s ends up 存在 as cheap, if not cheaper than buying used yourself.

Salary sacrifice 計画/陰謀s 許す 買い手s to 支払う/賃金 for cars on PCP 取引,協定s out of pre-税金 income, thus saving their 税金 率 on the 月毎の 支払い(額)s. They 支払う/賃金 a small 2 per cent 利益-in-肉親,親類d 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 in return, which is low to incentivise EV 購入(する)s.

同様に as pre-税金 貯金 on the brand new EV, salary sacrifice covers servicing and 維持/整備, 決裂/故障 cover and 保険 and in some 事例/患者s charger 取り付け・設備 同様に as an 配分 of 解放する/自由な public 非難する miles.

Michael's switch from 燃焼 to electric 運動ing couldn't be more 劇の.

His MX-30 - affectionately 愛称d 'Terry' - 取って代わるs an ageing Cadillac BLS; a 燃料-guzzling American car built with US roads in mind and not the tight and 新たな展開ing 支援する 小道/航路s of the British countryside.

'I scanned to see what I could get for the 予算 - I was 推定する/予想するing a new 石油, a decent sort of supermini sized car,' Michael told us.

'But when you search by price the Mazda (機の)カム up and I'd seen a few reviews of it anyway.

'When I saw the used prices compared to new and that they are as reasonable as they are, I 活発に started looking.?Fortunately, this one was only five miles from where I live, which was brilliant'.

Both Michael and Denise love the way the car looks and 運動s: 'It looks like a normal car. I think some EVs are made to look too futuristic but 地雷's got a radiator 取調べ/厳しく尋問する on the 前線 and it's better for more 保守的な nature.?

'My partner was happy that it ふさわしい our needs and then as soon as we went to the dealership she loved it straight away. She?loves 運動ing it, even more than me - loves the instant acceleration'.?

The cameras and safety 道具 in the Mazda was another big tick for them both.

And when it comes to friends and family - and the big 範囲 苦悩 worry - Michael pointed out that for some an EV might not work, but for a lot of people who don't 運動 very far very often it's 罰金 in reality.

He says: 'Definitely there was a few eyebrows raised when I said I was getting an electric car. I think the only reticence with people is 範囲 苦悩, which I 肉親,親類d of understand.?

'But then when you say to them, 井戸/弁護士席, how far do you 運動, and they say only to work and 支援する or only go to here and there, it's not really going to be an 問題/発行する at all.

'I work from home a lot of the time, you just don't do the miles. If you're a sales rep or you've got family the other end of the country, then I understand it more. But you you've got a decent sized 殴打/砲列.'

Charging capacity in about five hours at home due to the small battery, and on a fast charger it will do up to 80 per cent in 36 minutes

非難する capacity in about five hours at home 予定 to the small 殴打/砲列, and on a 急速な/放蕩な charger it will do up to 80 per cent in 36 minutes

Two of the biggest 利益s of EVs are lower costs from home 非難する and いっそう少なく servicing because EVs have より小数の moving parts.

最初 Michael hadn't got his home charger 任命する/導入するd when he 選ぶd up their MX-30 but luckily there was a Aldi with public 非難する costing about 25p/kwh. Once his wallbox charger was 任命する/導入するd he quickly saw the s avings.

'It's got a small 殴打/砲列, so?it costs me about £10 to £11 続けざまに猛撃するs to 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 it.?

'明白に, that's for a small 殴打/砲列.?

'If you equated that to one with a more decent 範囲 - say for 200 to 250 miles - you'd be 支払う/賃金ing £20 quid, give or take.?

'Compared to a 戦車/タンク of 石油 that's 負担s, 負担s cheaper'.

EVs cost いっそう少なく to 持続する, and servicing has been another 加える point: 'I'm happy to go the main 売買業者, because it's expensive, but it isn't because they've only got half as much work to do [compared to 石油]. So プロの/賛成の rata, it doesn't cost any, more than a 私的な car 独立した・無所属 garages'

'Your servicing 作品 out a couple of 100 quid, but it keeps the warranty and it keeps it within the 売買業者 網状組織. So from that point of 見解(をとる), you get the peace of mind. If there were any 問題/発行するs, you've got the backup of the 売買業者 - and they've been 絶対 lovely - really helpful.'?

Only doing about 4,000 miles a year, 範囲 苦悩 isn't a 関心 for Michael but he 認めるs 'EVs can be horses for courses'.

He says: 'The main take away from my point of 見解(をとる) is If you don't do a lot of miles, I can't really see many 消極的なs from EV 所有権. I do 行方不明になる the noise, [...] but then I like the 改善するd acceleration.?

'People worry about the 殴打/砲列s, but I don't have to worry about タイミング belt snapping, タイミング chains going, exhaust 問題/発行するs or oil pump 漏れるs - all those sorts of things that would happen with an older 燃焼 car. I think that older cars are going to cost you money 結局 anyway.'

Michael 収容する/認めるs his partner still has her 石油 car but they hardly use it.

'In reality, we have to find an excuse to use it if you know what I mean. [...] It's not costing us anything apart from a bit of 保険 [...] But we can easily manage on the one car'.?

にもかかわらず 存在 a petrolhead, Michael seems fully 調印するd up: '明白に, no 放出/発行 s, is brilliant - we all 肉親,親類d of want to do our best [for the 惑星].?

'I'd definitely get another EV again, price 扶養家族 - 絶対 no practical 推論する/理由 why I wouldn't.'
