When, this morning, the 国家の 国家 was played in her honour, it 示すd not just Queen Camilla's 76th birthday but a やめる 劇の turn-around in fortune.

If the past year has been 重要な, with the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II, the 即位 of her husband Charles and her own change in 役割 from duchess to Queen, the 先行する 30 years have also been remarkable.

For much of that time it seemed scarcely possible she would be 定評のある as anything other than a mistress, let alone be 栄冠を与えるd Queen in Westminster Abbey.

It is a 調印する of the sensitivities she had to 交渉する that after their 2005 wedding, she eschewed the Princess of むちの跡s 肩書を与える out of 尊敬(する)・点 for her husband's late former wife Diana and was known by the rather いっそう少なく grand 肩書を与える of the Duchess of Cornwall instead.

The 旅行 from 存在 called a 'wicked woman' by Queen Elizabeth to becoming Queen has been eventful (pictured: King Charles and Queen Camilla during the 載冠(式)/即位(式) on May 6)

It was believed for some time that she would be known as 'Princess Consort' once her husband acceded to the 王位.

But as the late Queen 示すd 70 years of 支配する last February, she 公然と 表明するd her 'sincere wish' that Camilla be known as Queen Consort when the time (機の)カム.

It 示すd やめる a change of heart for Camilla had once - 報道によれば, at least - been 述べるd as 'that wicked woman' by the late 君主.

Now known 簡単に as Queen Camilla, she can look 支援する at some satisfaction at a? 王室の career, which had a 悲惨な start - にもかかわらず 存在 considered '非,不,無 negotiable' by the king.

Some, 含むing her step son Prince Harry, have argued that the Queen Consort 操るd the 精密検査するing of her 評判, which once saw her 述べるd as the most hated woman in Britain.?

And she certainly has managed to change how many 見解(をとる) her, since she first (機の)カム to prominence, and since she first met Charles.

によれば 王室の 専門家 Tina Brown, Camilla, whose father was a very 井戸/弁護士席-regarded Second World War 退役軍人, was brought up in an aristocratic milieu, where she often rubbed up against 王族.

Brown once told LBC that Camilla was seen as 'wildly attractive, tremendously earthy, fun, 絶対の catnip to men at all times'.

She 追加するd: 'She was a very 控訴,上告ing woman, and she could have really married anyone. She was definitely 極端に popular on...the 選び出す/独身 woman 回路・連盟.'?

And so, when Charles met Camilla in the summer of 1971, he was taken with her 即時に, によれば 王室の 伝記作家 Penny 賠審員, 特に because she was 'not in anyway overawed by him, not fawning or sycophantic'.?

にもかかわらず their 関係, Camilla was みなすd unsuitable by 上級の 人物/姿/数字s in the 王室の 設立 and marriage was never really on the cards.?

Instead, she tied the knot with Andrew Parker Bowles, with whom she has two children, but the couple 分裂(する) in 1995 after 22 years of marriage.

一方/合間, Charles 乗る,着手するd on his own ill-運命/宿命d marriage with Diana.

The two had 初めは had a 連絡事務 in the 1970s, 特に in periods when Camilla's?on-off 関係 with 未来 husband Andrew Parker Bowles was 'off'.

But as both marriages (機の)カム under 圧力, Charles and Camilla started to see each other once again - and this was a 原因(となる) of particular 狼狽 to Charles's mother and grandmother.?

The Queen is said to have regarded Camilla as an adulteress who had led her bachelor son ast ray.

指示/教授/教育s were 問題/発行するd that the then Mrs Parker Bowles was never to be on the guest 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) for any formal event at which the Queen was to be 現在の.

Camilla's ability to bring out the King's lighter side has been cited as one of the factors in how she has changed perceptions of her (pictured: the royal couple at the Mey Highland Games? in 2008)

The royal has been praised for dealing with the overwhelming public ire towards her with humour, even signing letter to Charles as 'your devoted old bag' as that was how she was often described (

Worse was to come.

顕著に, there was the 1989 'tampongate' スキャンダル, which saw transcripts of an intimate phone conversation between the couple made public.

The six-minute call was 恐らく taped by an amateur 無線で通信する 熱中している人 who (人命などを)奪う,主張するd to have つまずくd across the pair's conversation while moving between 音声部の channels, and sold the 記録,記録的な/記録するing to a tabloid.

During the call, the Prince spoke of wishing to be の近くに to Camilla in intimate 条件 - and 表明するd a 恐れる of 存在 reincarnated as a tampon .

The transcript, which was also referred to as?'Camillagate', was so damning, that after reading it?Princess Diana 報道によれば 宣言するd 'game, 始める,決める and match'.

It was seeing Camilla as the usurper of the much-beloved Princess Diana that led the public to dislike her so much.

によれば Tina Brown: 'And the 圧力(をかける) went after her with such viciousness. I mean, the really appalling sexist comments about Camilla - I mean, they used to call her, you know, old 捕らえる、獲得する, old trout.'

She 追加するd that Camilla would 調印する her letters to Charles 'your 充てるd old 捕らえる、獲得する', as she been been labelled as such so often.

In fact, many believe that this humour, and the 乗り気 to take the 乱用, is part of what has helped Camilla rehabilitate her image in the public 注目する,もくろむ.

Others believe the Queen Consort's 影響(力) on her husband has played a 役割 in the public's 受託 of her.

Much has been said about Camilla's sense of humour, with former boyfriend Kevin Burke once 述べるing her as 'never tongue-tied or shy' and always having 'something amusing' to say.

It seems her enthusiasm is 感染性の; once buttoned-up and serious, public-直面するing Charles now 定期的に grins and laughs with Camilla by his 味方する. On a visit to Canada, the couple famously 解散させるd into giggles while watching 伝統的な Inuit throat singers 成し遂げる.

Robert Jobson, author of Charles at Seventy, said his wife brings him 'balance', 追加するing: 'She has a 広大な/多数の/重要な sense of humour. As a result he's smiley and laughing.'?

And Camilla certainly comes across as 本物の, with a longtime friend once 述べるing her as '100 per cent sure of who she is'.

'She had no 味方する, no 複雑さ,' they said. 'She is warm, witty, endlessly cheerful and has the ability to laugh at everything and tease Charles out of his Eeyore grumpiness.'
