ROYAL Bank of Scotland 貿易（する）d below its best levels today as rumours 渦巻くd around the Square Mile that one of its biggest 独立した・無所属 株主s may be about to 減ずる its 火刑／賭ける in the 小売 bank and Direct Line 保険 操作者.

After br iefly touching 1607p, its lead was 削減（する） to 48p at 1601p. A line of 1.51m 株 went through the market at 1538p, 誘発するing rumours that it was the 序幕 to a big placing. Banco Santander Central Hispano 持つ／拘留するs about 246m 株, or almost 9% of the company, and there is talk it may be 均衡を保った to offload up to 25m 株 in the marketplace. Word is that 仲買人 Merrill Lynch has been asked to find 買い手s.

仲買人 Credit Lyonnais Laing remains bullish of RBS and has repeated its advice to （弁護士の）依頼人s to switch out of Barclays, up 88p at 2208p. Japanese house Nomura says Enron （危険などに）さらす 恐れるs have been overdone and it is looking for a 回復. Bank of America takes a more 用心深い 見解（をとる） of prospects. It has lowered the 株 from market 成し遂げる to underperform, worried by its （危険などに）さらす to the world 経済的な 減産／沈滞. The 残り／休憩（する） of the banking 部門 attracted support, HSBC putting on 41 1/2p to 886p and HBoS 伸び（る）ing 38p to 845p after 保証するing the market it had no （危険などに）さらす to the Enron 崩壊（する）.

It looks as though the 伝統的な pre-Christmas 決起大会／結集させる is in 十分な swing as the 負わせる of money building up outside the market-place tries to find a way in. British 航空路s climbed 15p to 221 1/2p after November traffic numbers turned out to be not as bad as 恐れるd.
