Three different cars (at different price points) were used to 行為/行う the 調査: a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.0 EcoBoost (2013) with 91,000 miles; BMW 3 Series 330i (2019) with 45,000 miles; and a Porsche Cayenne S (2019) with 67,000 miles
Caura team members 接触するd different 100 garages across the country, requesting an MOT and/or service 引用する for the exact same car with matching mileage to make a like-for-life comparison on each 引用する. This 含むd a 2013 Ford Fiesta Zetec with 91k on the clock
The other two models used for the 調査 were a 2019 BMW 3 Series 330i with 45,000 miles (left) and a Porsche Cayenne S from the same year with 67k on the clock
Some 70 garages 答える/応じるd to both calls, 明らかにする/漏らすing a 重要な gender 不平等 in the 引用するs 供給するd.?
For a service, Edward was 引用するd £229 on 普通の/平均(する), 反して Emma was 引用するd £241 on 普通の/平均(する) ? 代表するing a five per cent 増加する for 女性(の)s.?
The most worrying finding was a whopping 265 per cent 女性(の) 賞与金 from one garage, where Emma was 引用するd nearly three-times (£475) more than Edward, who was given a £130 引用する for 同一の work.?
And it was the same 事例/患者 for 年次の MOT 引用するs - something that's typically 直す/買収する,八百長をするd.?
There's also a 合法的な 最大限 料金 of £54.85 a garage can 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金. Yet women - or Emmas - were 引用するd an 普通の/平均(する) two per cent more than men.
The Caura team recently 行為/行うd a blind 調査する of garages and service centres, and the gender pricing 不平等 it showed up was 関心ing, with a 2% difference in MOT 引用するs and 5% service 賞与金 for women
最高潮の場面ing a systemic 問題/発行する within the 自動推進の 部門 that 要求するs 緊急の attention, Janice Pang, 長,率いる of 乗り物 維持/整備 at Caura, said: 'A one per cent 増加する in price [when looking at male versus 女性(の)] in either gender swing is wrong, but when our 研究 shows a five per cent 増加する [on 普通の/平均(する)] on like-for-like pricing, we were shocked by prejudice in pricing for women.'
Other gender biases in モーター garage pricing and 治療 were flagged up using Caura's mixed methods from mystery shopping to a YouGov of over 4,000 women and men.
Three fifths (59 per cent) of women said they think garages for 乗り物 維持/整備 and servicing are more catered に向かって men than women, and?nearly half (46 per cent) of the 女性(の)s 調査するd said they felt 急ぐd to 認可する 付加 作品 to their car when 調書をとる/予約するing in and agreeing work.

支援する in 2017, 女性(の) 運転者s 調査するd by MotorEasy said they'd take their custom どこかよそで if they felt they were 存在 taken advantage of ーに関して/ーの点でs of gender discriminative pricing at garages
Disturbingly this data shows little 進歩 from when we?報告(する)/憶測d that women were feeling cheated by garages 支援する in 2017.
At the time, a third of women told car 維持/整備 service MotorEasy they'd been 'ripped off' because of their gender, and nearly one in three 全体にわたる (29 per cent) believed that a garage would overcharge them?for servicing and 修理 work - 純粋に because they're 女性(の).
Unsurprisingly women 警告するd they were 用意が出来ている to take their 商売/仕事 どこかよそで if they felt they were 存在 taken advantage of.?
And with younger 世代s telling Caura they feel biases more - 65 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds (both genders) agree garages are spaces 伝統的に tailored for men - it's likely they'll do just that.?
