Ben Leonard, 16, from Stockport, Manchester, died of a serious 長，率いる 傷害 after 落ちるing 200ft off the 広大な／多数の／重要な Orme in Llandudno, むちの跡s, while on a three-day 探検隊／遠征隊 with the 赤みを帯びた Explorer Scouts on August 26 2018 after 存在 left 'unsupervised'

Ben Leonard was 16 years old when he 始める，決める off from his home in Stockport for a three-day 探検隊／遠征隊 to Llandudno, むちの跡s, in August 2018.

Having sent her older son Thomas off on Scouting trips in the past, Ben's mother Jackie Leonard didn't think her son's safety would be a 関心 during the 探検隊／遠征隊.

But on the second day of Ben's trip, Jackie received a phone call from the Scout leader which changed her life forever.

Ben had fallen 200ft off 広大な／多数の／重要な Orme and 支えるd a serious 長，率いる 傷害 in the 落ちる.?

A 陪審／陪審員団 検死 結論するd that Ben had been 'unlawfully killed' by the Explorer Scouts leader and assistant leader in February 2024 and 設立する that neglect of the Scouts 協会 was a 与える／捧げるing factor

'For about an hour we didn't know what was happening and we couldn't leave because we'd been told they might be taking him somewhere by 空気／公表する 救急車. Then about an hour later the police knocked on the door.'

'We were just so, so relieved,' said Jackie. 'I couldn't believe it when he said unlawful 殺人，大当り. We were not pleased of course, but we feel it was the 権利 結論 to reach.'

Ben had been left 'unsupervised' with two other Scouts on the grassy 最高の，を越すs of the 広大な／多数の／重要な Orme, a 679ft (207m) headland on the north coast of むちの跡s, によれば the 検死官's 報告（する）／憶測.

Speaking outside the Four 法廷，裁判所s in Dublin this month, Anne said: 'She was an incredible daughter, a wonderful sister, and an amazing friend. Someone who could make you smile no 事柄 what.'

In December 2015, 14-year-old Aoife Winterlich went on a scouting trip to Co. Wexford, Ireland. As her mother Anne sent her off on the trip, it was likely a welcome 一時的休止，執行延期, as her father ツバメ was terminally ill at home.

The teen, from Walkinstown, Dublin, was away with a Scouting Ireland group which was staying at a 宿泊所 in Waterford and the trip had come to an end when the group decided to make a stop on the way home.

Another young boy who died while on a Scout trip was Roy Thornton, which was also 支配するd as 偶発の by a 検死官.

The 15-year-old boy from Wembley, London, died in the アルプス山脈 in 1999 after he slipped and fell.

His mother, Janet Hollands, told The Sunday Times that Ben's 事例／患者 made her realise she should have taken 合法的な advice when her son died, instead of 'blindly' 信用ing that the Scout organisation '手配中の，お尋ね者 to change'.

Roy had gone on a trip with the 3rd Kenton Scouts Explorers group to the Austrian アルプス山脈.

Ms Hollands, now 65, had been a Scout leader on the trip at the time, in 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金 of looking after the younger Cubs.

The group was climbing a section of the 7000ft mountain J?chelspitze in the Lechtal Valley when she decided the path wasn't suitable for the Cubs.

The assistant leader Paul Beardmore, who was 主要な the older group, had never led a group of Scouts before.

As the 条件s became windier, he told the children to leave the path and slide 負かす／撃墜する a hilly section.

His mother told The Sunday Times that the boy, a 'natural leader', had been first to go but he 'went over the 辛勝する／優位'.

The other boys watched in horror and managed the dig in their heels and stop, 'literally 権利 b y the 辛勝する／優位'.

As Ben Leonard's family sat through a 破滅的な 検死, they had support from another mother who had gone through the same 悲劇 years earlier, Sharon Collins.

Her eldest son Scott, 老年の 11, fell 60ft 負かす／撃墜する a ravine at Ashworth Valley 近づく Rochdale, during a Scout （軍の）野営地，陣営 in 1998.

He was taken to hospital but died the same day from a brain 傷害.

The Chadderton St Herbert's 軍隊／機動隊 from Oldham had organised for 50 Scouts to spend the 週末 at the （軍の）野営地，陣営. But just after 7am on the second day, Scott's mother was woken up by the phone call which would tell her he had fallen.

Untrained helper Peter McPhillips told the 検死 at the time that the boy had 行方不明になるd a turning as he led a group of eleven boys の上に a path on the 味方する of the ravine.

McPhillips had been at the 支援する of the group, which was a size too big for him to manage by himself.

He couldn't see that the path had become ますます 狭くする when he told Scott to keep walking, の直前に he fell.

Another child who died while on a Scout trip was Alan Lock, a six-year-old boy

Alan Lock was just six-years-old when he fell into a river and 溺死するd on a scouting trip in 2009.

The schoolboy, who was afraid of water, 苦しむd from an undiagnosed heart 条件 myocarditis -?a 条件 which can 原因（となる） symptoms 類似の to a heart at tack.

Alan was on a guided walk along the River Stour 近づく Sudbury, Suffolk, when he went 行方不明の from a group consisting of 18 Beavers and four adults.

A Scout leader standing on a 橋（渡しをする） spotted his shoes poking out of the 急速な／放蕩な-flowing water and managed to pull him out of the river の上に the bank. But にもかかわらず the group's desperate 成果／努力s to resuscitate Alan he died around four hours later in hospital.

Scout 協会 地区 Commissioner Stephen Dodd told the BBC at the time that the 悲劇 had led to 's ignificant reflection' and that the frequency of 'good group 管理／経営' 手続きs such as 長，率いる counts weren't as '十分な as they should have been'.
