会合,会う the 創立者 of Eager Drinks - the small 商売/仕事 taking its juices from cocktail 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s to the kitchen (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する

  • Ed Rigg 開始する,打ち上げるd Eager Drinks in 2007 and has been a 中心的要素 of pubs ever since
  • He 始める,決める out to 戦闘 the 過度の refrigeration of juice that isn't fresh?
  • He has recently started selling 直接/まっすぐに to 消費者s online?

You might not have heard of Eager Drinks, but you'll almost certainly have tried it.

The juice company has been a 中心的要素 of pubs, 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s and 発生地s across the UK for 15 years and its drinks are used in Young's pubs, Alchemist 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s and across the Stonegate chain, which owns Slug and Lettuce.

Its main selling point is that its juices can be 蓄える/店d outside of a fridge, 解放する/自由なing up more space in pub fridges. As a result, it (人命などを)奪う,主張するs to be more 維持できる in the 過程.

Now Eager is looking to sell its juice 直接/まっすぐに to 顧客s.

Ed Rigg launched Eager Drinks in 2007 to try and free up space in pub fridges

Ed Rigg 開始する,打ち上げるd Eager Drinks in 2007 to try and 解放する/自由な up space in pub fridges?

They might have developed a taste for it in the pub, but will 消費者s be willing to order it to their homes?

We speak to 創立者 Ed Rigg about why he thinks the juice 産業 is a 'sham' and how he wants to change it.

Juice 産業 is a 'sham'

Rigg was working in the film 産業 when he moved in to a flat above a pub. After a few 転換s pulling pints, he (機の)カム up with the idea for a drinks brand, after noticing that juice for cocktails was taking up 価値のある space that could be used for 瓶/封じ込めるd beer and ワイン.?

In 2007, Eager was born.

'Let's say you're a 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 and getting a 配達/演説/出産 once a week and you know you need 50 litres of orange juice. If you get that one 配達/演説/出産 of 冷気/寒がらせるd juice, it's got to go in the fridge all at once,' he says.

'You're buying in 本体,大部分/ばら積みの. If you had to 冷気/寒がらせる that whole 本体,大部分/ばら積みの, 井戸/弁護士席.. fridge space is at a 賞与金.'

Rigg 始める,決める out to find a way to find a way to 蓄える/店 juice out of the fridge - a 重要な challenge when you consider the 塀で囲むs of 冷気/寒がらせるd juice 設立する in supermarkets.

What Rigg discovered, he says, was that if juices were 一括d 異なって, most wouldn't need to be refrigerated behind the 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 at all.?

This could help 削減(する) energy waste, as 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s and pubs could 減ずる the number of fridges they use.?

'The sham is that the juice is squeezed in Brazil - it will be pasteurised when it's squeezed,' he says. 'At that point it's no longer fresh.'?

'That juice will then be shipped across the ocean. It'll be put into タンカーs and brought here. It's then pasteurised again before it goes into the carton.

To say juice needs to be refrigerated after 存在 in the 供給(する) chain for six months to a year… it's 全く disingenuous

'To then say it needs to be refrigerated after 存在 in the 供給(する) chain for six months to a year… it's 全く disingenuous. It's not fresh, it's just 冷淡な. It's a serving suggestion, it's not a necessity.

'Other big brands in this country sell the same 製品s in Europe in an ambient pack 判型. It is needlessly wasteful.'

Rigg says the discrepancy between the UK and Europe comes 負かす/撃墜する to how we like our milk.??

In Europe, people tend to 選ぶ for 非,不,無-fresh or long-life milk, so juices are placed on the same shelf rather than 存在 put in the fridge.?

In Britain, where we're more likely to 選ぶ up fresh milk from the refrigerator, it made sense to place juices nearby.?

But do brands also 示す the price of their juice up by refrigerating it and making (人命などを)奪う,主張するs of freshness?

Eager Drinks recently launched a subscription for consumers to buy its juice

Eager Drinks recently 開始する,打ち上げるd a subscription for 消費者s to buy its juice

Rigg says he doesn't believe there's a '共謀,' but '明白に when concentrated juice is half the price, if you can 納得させる people [refrigerated juice] is fresher, you're going to 納得させる people to 支払う/賃金 the higher price.

'I'm not 説 everyone in the 産業 is a baddie and I'm a goodie. It's not that 黒人/ボイコット and white.'

改善するd 一括ing a 攻撃する,衝突する with 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s

Rigg 設立する a 解答 to 過度の refrigeration in the form of extra 一括ing. Eager drinks have an extra 層 of cardboard which creates an airtight 障壁 and it means it can be kept outside of the fridge.

'There's a fraction more 一括ing waste because of the 層 of 失敗させる/負かす, but it's nothing compared to refrigerating juice at 1-2 degrees in open fridges,' he says.

But once the 調印(する) is broken, it becomes like any other juice and has to be refrigerated - the exact problem Rigg said he 手配中の,お尋ね者 to 直す/買収する,八百長をする. How is Eager any different?

'We are useful because [発生地s] can buy good 質 juice at room 気温, put it downstairs in the cellar and get it out when they need it,' Rigg says.?

'They can get it 配達するd with other drinks. They don't need to rely on the chef to order it from food distributors which would come in 冷気/寒がらせるd lorries.?

'You'd get 負担s of people say the chef had forgotten to order it. It's just not on their レーダ.'

Eager has become a 攻撃する,衝突する with 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s, 発生地s and hotels, and now makes between 10 and 12 million litres of juice a year. Its 現在の turnover is over £10million.?

What it doesn't stop is 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s 選ぶing for cheaper, concentrated juice that can be 蓄える/店d at room 気温.?

In a period of higher prices across the board, 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s may 井戸/弁護士席 have to 削減(する) costs and 選ぶ for a いっそう少なく fresh 選択.

'Juice should be a 扱う/治療する'

Another challenge 直面するing Rigg and Eager is ever-changing 消費 habits and a growing understanding of the health 危険s of sugary juice.

Ultra-過程d food and sugar have become a hot topic in 最近の years, with 研究 showing that 消費するing too much juice, which is high in sugar and low in fibre, can lead to a 抱擁する spike in 血 sugar levels.

Unlike 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s and 発生地s where juice might be considered a 扱う/治療する as part of a cocktail recipe, Rigg feels more conscious about the 疑わしい health 利益s of juice.

?I think we're in a world where, if you're not honest, 消費者s 匂いをかぐ you out

'When I started selling fruit juice, like everybody we assumed it was a health drink and subsequently there have been 異なるing opinions.?

'I think it's やめる sugary and if you want to get ビタミン c or some of the other good things that are in fruit juice, there's probably way to get it without the same sugar content.

'It's strange for a fruit juice company to say that, but I think we're in a world where if you're not honest, 消費者s 匂いをかぐ you out. People have all of this (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) at their fingertips.'

It makes Eager's move into the direct-to-消費者 market a difficult one, but this is a challenge Rigg seems to relish.?

He is 現実主義の about the challenges and has 選ぶd to でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる Eager as a '扱う/治療する' rather than spouting any tenuous health 利益s.

'We 明白に want to sell as much fruit juice as possible. If you tell people it's the most healthy thing in the world, you should drink a whole carton a day, and people decide that that's the narrative, then you could maybe sell more. You'd be 存在 公正に/かなり disingenuous but you could do that. We think juice is a 扱う/治療する.'

でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れるing Eager as a 扱う/治療する also makes the higher price point easier to stomach for parents, who he considers his main 顧客s.

現在/一般に Eager sells six 1 litre cartons of orange juice for £15.90, around £2.65 a carton, 類似の to Tropicana. In Sainsbury's an 同等(の) 1 litre carton of orange juice, not from concentrate, costs £1.50.

It will be an 上りの/困難な 戦う/戦い, but 顧客s may 井戸/弁護士席 be eager to stump up for the 賞与金 juice they've been unknowingly drinking for years.
