‘Wherever Raffles opens a hotel, it 目的(とする)s for it to be the best 所有物/資産/財産 in that 場所,’ concierge Emiel Danneels at Raffles London at The OWO told me.

My 結論 after spending a night in ‘The Old War Office’? They may 井戸/弁護士席 have 後継するd in the UK 資本/首都.

This 広大な dazzling 120-room 所有物/資産/財産, which opened as a Raffles hotel in September 2023, is stuffed to the gills with thrilling history, the service is faultless and, as my ビデオ (映画の)フィート数 shows, guests are ensconced in grandeur and exquisite 高級な, in a 地位,任命する-card perfect 場所 - opposite Horse Guards Parade and the 公式の/役人 入り口 to Buckingham Palace.

The trapezium-形態/調整d building was 建設するd in Edwardian Baroque style and opened in 1906 as the War Office.

It was the centre of the British Army’s 行政 until 1964, 含む/封じ込めるing 1,100 rooms; 2.5 miles of 回廊(地帯)s; 22 解除するs; 25million bricks; 26,000 tonnes of Portland 石/投石する; 50 acres of plastering; 19,000 feet of ornamental cast アイロンをかける 取調べ/厳しく尋問するs 任命する/導入するd around hallways and 回廊(地帯)s to 含む/封じ込める telephone and b ell wires; and 18,000 square yards of Roman cube mosaic and terrazzo 床に打ち倒すing.

The building was where MI5 and MI6 were conceived and, while it didn’t serve as their (警察,軍隊などの)本部, it was a day-to-day workplace for 秘かに調査するs, 含むing James 社債 author Ian Fleming, a 連絡事務 with the Secret 知能 Services during WWII.

This was where the 長,指導者 of the 皇室の general staff, Alan Brooke, helped Sir Winston Churchill 操る the 連合した victory over Hitler.

During a fascinating hotel 小旅行する with Emiel I learned more about the 所有物/資産/財産’s 吸収するing past ? and got a こそこそ動く peek inside some of its most prestigious 控訴s.

含むing arguably the 最高の,を越す room ? the Haldane 控訴. Price for the night? Between £25,000 ($31,000) and £27,000 ($34,000), I’m told.

And what do you get for that? Something breathtaking.

The 控訴 is 指名するd after Sir Richard Burdon Haldane (30 July 1856 - August 1928), who served as 大臣 for War between 1905 and 1912 and who helped 設立する the 王室の 飛行機で行くing 軍団, MI5 and MI6.

The space was used by him and その後の 政府 人物/姿/数字s of distinguished significance.

The ever-affable Emiel explained that four ex-首相s ? David Lloyd George, H H Asquith, Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden ? would have 占領するd the room, along with Herbert Horatio Kitchener (who 工夫するd the ‘Your Country Needs You’ (選挙などの)運動をする) and John Profumo, who was at the centre of the first modern sex スキャンダル in 1963.

He clandestinely used the office’s 私的な elevator to bring in his mistress, 19-year-old model Christine Keeler.

The room now 構成するs two opulent bedrooms either 味方する of a magnificent, stately living room, with furniture befitting an Edwardian palace, decorative 12.5-metre (41ft) -high 天井s, oak panelling and grand windows overlooking Whitehall.

The 私的な elevator was 除去するd, though.

I was also shown inside the Granville 控訴, 指名するd after Winston Churchill’s favourite 秘かに調査する, Christine Granville. It costs around £17,000 ($21,500) per night and features an ensuite worthy of a Hollywood movie, with にわか雨s and 洗面所s housed behind opaque 審査するs in 中心存在d ‘cubicles’ and a jewel of a standalone tub at the far end.

Emiel guided us 負かす/撃墜する into one of the two 初めの 地階 levels where a telephone 交流 was 任命する/導入するd 有能な of operating in the event of a 核の attack ? and along the way pointed out the 初めの cast-アイロンをかける 取調べ/厳しく尋問するs and 床に打ち倒すing in the 回廊(地帯)s.

We finished 支援する where we started, at the hotel’s jaw-droppingly grand marble staircase.

Winston Churchill’s staff used to line it to give him daily 要点説明s, with the 政治家 positioned at the 最高の,を越す outside what is now the Haldane 控訴.

Today the staircase helps make the Raffles London ロビー one of the most impressive in the world, by anyone’s 基準s, its Instagram-baiting allure 上げるd by a Murano-glass chandelier (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限d by the hotel.

Mind you, Instagram-baiting allure を待つs around every corner.

Visit the pool, which 占領するs a space within the extra three 地階 levels Raffles dug, and you’ll probably 結局最後にはーなる spending as much time taking pictures of it as you will swimming. It’s magnificent.

Our ‘大臣の 控訴’ bedroom, with its hushed opulence, was 平易な on the 注目する,もくろむ, too.

It has a marble bathroom of not just my dreams, but everyone else’s, and 見解(をとる)s of the 世帯 Cavalry standing to attention opposite.

We dined in the evening and for breakfast in Saison, the former WO 軍の library with a glass 天井 that’s now a lavish restaurant of 著名な calibre 舵輪/支配d by Argentine-Italian food wizard Mauro Colagreco.

At dinner, the pumpkin ravioli was ravishing, the ワインs by the glass gorgeous and the service 配達するd with 軍の precision.

The 基準s remained impressively high in the morning, with an attentive and bubbly breakfast team 配達するing ‘the best eggs benedict’ my partner had ever tasted, porridge with almond flakes that would 満足させる any native of Scotland and 最高の,を越す-notch pastries.

The coffee also comes 高度に recommended, with Louis Roeder シャンペン酒 an 選択 for anyone looking to get the party started 早期に doors.

We left our 捕らえる、獲得するs in 貯蔵 at the hotel while we met the 世帯 Calvary horses opposite and 調査するd the 国家の Portrait Gallery, a few minutes by foot to the north.

He would have received the 王室の 治療, of course ? but every guest is 王族 at Raffles London at The OWO.
