Even in February, Glasgow has a whip-急速な／放蕩な vibe and the city moves at pace. Maybe it's the 勝利，勝つd 爆破ing up the Clyde that gives an energy, but it's more likely the posters on buses and hoardings have the answer: People make Glasgow.
So 上昇傾向 and 平易な to engage with are they, that my nine-year-old daughter and I agree that what makes the difference between a good and a 広大な／多数の／重要な trip to Glasgow is indeed the people of Glasgow.
It's taken me years to check out this city with 辛勝する／優位 - the street-wise younger sibling to the わずかに twee, 伝統的な Edinburgh. It was 価値（がある） the wait.
And if I'd waited this long then we'd bypass the centre's 予算 hotels (Travelodge and Novotel) and unpack in Glasgow's finest.
Edinburgh 誇るs swish hotels such as Gleneagles Townhouse, and my favourite, the high-gloss Virgin hotel, 加える plenty of 強健な offerings such as The Balmoral and The Scotsman. In Glasgow there's really only one hotel that waves jazz 手渡すs above the 残り／休憩（する） ? the 100-room Kimpton Blythswood Square.

Not so long ago, Blythswood Square was a red-light 地区. It's a real stretch of the imagination today given this pristine Georgian garden square is lined with expensively 回復するd 居住の 所有物／資産／財産s and offices and is now home to a 高級な hotel 直面する-off, with the Kimpton on one 味方する and on the other, new 競争相手 the Dakota, which is lavish enough, but doesn't do old-school sophistication.
Usually, I'd be intrigued by the hotel itself first, the actual fabric of the building, but step inside the Kimpton and it's the staff who steal the show.
You'll be 迎える／歓迎するd by Chuck the charming concierge, a 地元の chap of vintage years and a good 晴雨計 of the team. Just like The 血の塊／突き刺すing Hotel in London, and the Gainsborough Bath Spa, it's the staff who infuse the Kimpton with a lively atmosphere you'll want to 瓶／封じ込める and take home as a souvenir.
地位，任命する-pandemic so much 批評 has been 投げつけるd at young, inexperienced 歓待 労働者s for not 存在 up to scratch or 欠如（する）ing the joie de vivre that guests 推定する／予想する (I'm 有罪の as 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d). Yet from the knowledgeable waiters in the restaurant to the 前線 of house team and 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 staff, nothing was too much trouble. Each person took an actual 利益／興味 in guests (imagine!) and they operated with 信用／信任.
But let's wheel 支援する to the light and 有望な ロビー where two Brompton bikes 加える 地図／計画するs are 利用できる for 調査するing. Fitness 警報! If you hadn't taken 公式文書，認める on your way to the hotel, let's just say so 法外な are the hills of Glasgow they are often used by Hollywood to portray the streets of San Francisco - so just make sure you're match fit.

Take a 広範囲にわたる staircase up to the Salon and you'll find a grand space that takes up a 広大な part of the first 床に打ち倒す with a colonnade of white 中心存在s over parquet 床に打ち倒すing, with soft furnishings of charcoal tweeds and heather velvets. There are sofas in 前線 of the fireplace and board games on the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議するs so if you are a gin fan ? Glasgow gin is wonderfully 乾燥した，日照りの (although not as 乾燥した，日照りの as Plymouth gin) there's no better 位置／汚点／見つけ出す to try one and gaze out of the 天井-to-床に打ち倒す windows or tuck into a good 調書をとる／予約する.
However, if you're looking for a hotel with intimate lounges and nooks, this isn't it ? the Kimpton is not cosy like a Pig hotel. It is an enormous space, so you'll be settling 負かす／撃墜する to read in a stately home atmosphere.
Our 二塁打-面 corner room - with high 天井s of course - looked over the square and was big enough to 招待する friends in for aperitifs. White blinds kept out the glare of sun and 厚い 灯火管制／停電 grey tweed curtains kept out any 冷気／寒がらせるs. A rather lovely touch was a tray of make-your-own cocktails with gin and vodka, two salt-rimmed cocktail glasses 加える ice bucket.

We didn't need to waste time trying to work out the lighting ? the switches were either on or off (bravo!), whether it was to the 入り口, the desk lamp or the 基準 lamp.
I'm 部分的な／不平等な to a marble bathroom and this one was wraparound chocolate Labrador marble, which gave a 都合よく decadent feel. The Rainbow 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 製品s were in 巨大（な） recyclable 瓶／封じ込めるs ? 広大な／多数の／重要な 質 and I'm sure I'm not the first guest to be やめる tempted by the 公式文書，認める that tells guests they can （犯罪の）一味 歓迎会 if they've forgotten anything from curling 結社s and hair rollers to a yoga mat and anti-static spray. And if it's not on the 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） they'll try and '得る，とらえる it for you'. What a service.
My daughter was able to lounge in dressing gown and ginormous slippers on the sofa at the end of the bed (also warm grey fabric) and watch the big 審査する. Having finished a 事業／計画（する） on the Romans she fell in love with the room's plaster Doric columns with gold leaf 繁栄するs at the 最高の，を越す.
It wouldn't have been a 妥協 to order room service: roasted squash agnolotti, 黒人／ボイコット trumpet mushrooms and crispy 下落する anyone? Or do you fancy a salmon and prawn burger?
But we 長，率いるd downstairs to check out the Kimpton scene, where lights are dimmed at night so glamour slinks into the 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 and restaurant.
It's so good to see a hotel buzzing with 非，不，無-居住（者）s piling out of taxis and into the hotel. Of course, there were men who'd made 極小の 成果／努力 attire-wise, knocking 支援する negronis, but women in long dresses and glittery sandals elevated the mood.
We tucked ourselves into a 半分-circular booth with marble （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する in the restaurant, mesmerised by the open kitchen, a carefully choreographed 円形競技場 of chefs 遂行する／発効させるing precision まっただ中に sizzles and steam and the 半端物 'yes chef!'
It says on the menu how to pronounce seafood restaurant IASG ('ee-usk'), meaning 'fish' in Gaelic. The 維持できる Scottish seafood menu with Shetland mussels, plaice on the bone, red gurnard and scallops will have pescetarians salivating. I went for soft-爆撃する crab with dashi mayo, prettily adorned with 略章s of crispy 海草 salad and 保存するd lemon, but pinch some of my daughter's delicious fish and 半導体素子s from the '少しの ones' menu. She's a foodie and this, she 宣言するd, is the best fish and 半導体素子s ever. Generous 部分s saw me tuck into another sensational starter instead of a main: the lobster and prawn ravioli with thermidor sauce. And we couldn't resist a 味方する of fried new potatoes just to try the 海草 mayo.
The sea d?cor 主題 is cleverly subtle ? from 巨大（な） light shades like lobster マリファナs to the long 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 covered in 巨大（な） iridescent turquoise fish 規模s, while above the 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 are perhaps 100 or more 水晶 decanters of さまざまな 形態／調整s and ages.< /p>
Plenty of マリファナ 工場／植物s keep the place en 傾向 and white shutters keep morning sunlight out at breakfast in the same restaurant. This feast is 操るd by Roberto from Tenerife, who was a whirlwind of organisation ? looking after parties from Japan, the US and a few like us, from south of the 国境.
It took a couple of sweeps of the buffet to take in the array of juices, breads, pastries and the hot fare, 含むing haggis, 黒人／ボイコット pudding and 地元の sausages. You could also 選ぶ one item 'from the kitchen' and the 有機の porridge with heather honey, berry compote, fig, pistachio, maple and cinnamon was a such a picture and so 簡単に done, we said we'd try to make it just like that at home.

They know how to make a decent strong macchiato here too and kept them coming. Not bad for £23 per person.

Ignore the website, which makes the spa look teeny. It's a labyrinthine subterranean 中心 of 治療 rooms, caf?, a fabulous therapy pool, steam, sauna and 派手に宣伝する roll, Scotland's first (world first?) snow room. After a scorching 開会／開廷／会期 in the sauna step inside this cabin with an alpine scene 事業／計画（する）d on the 塀で囲む and 浴びせる／消す yourself from a bucket of real Scottish snow…
