Slow and 安定した doesn't always 勝利,勝つ the race! Slow cookers are up to THREE TIMES more expensive to run than induction hobs, 実験(する)s 明らかにする/漏らす

That 含むs how we heat our homes, do the washing, and even the way we cook.

But is that 厳密に true? Not やめる, によれば the 消費者 group Which?.

Comparing cooking techniques: Tests by consumer group Which? reveal that induction hobs use significantly less energy than slow cookers and are cheaper to run. This graphic shows how the two methods compare when it comes to making beef stew and vegetable soup

In both 事例/患者s, the old adage 'slow and 安定した 勝利,勝つs the race' certainly didn't come to fruition, as the induction hob 証明するd superior in every 部類.?

Which? calculated the energy that was used based on the length of time it took make each dish, then equated this to a cost based on the 現在の 普通の/平均(する) price of a 部隊 of energy under the 政府's Energy Price 保証(人) ― 34p per kWh.

The slow cooker took 182 minutes to make the vegetable soup, which 伴う/関わるd using an 概算の 0.901 kWh of energy.

As 推定する/予想するd, the induction hob was much quicker.

Using this method took just 26 minutes by comparison, and because of this, the energy use was much lower?― at 0.273 kWh.

When putting a price on this energy use, the soup cost more than three times as much to make with the slow cooker than the induction hob.

The former (機の)カム it at 31p, while the latter was just 9p.?

It wasn't just in cost, energy use and time that the induction hob was 勝利を得た, it was also みなすd 'perfect' on the tastebuds thanks to its '井戸/弁護士席-cooked vegetables and smooth consistency after pur?eing', によれば Which's 専門家 testers.

The soup from the slow cooker was also 井戸/弁護士席-cooked but not as smooth, the 消費者 group said, and was also very '厚い as too much liquid evaporated during cooking'.

That 存在 said, Which? 定評のある that even though it was a more expensive and いっそう少なく 効果的な method, the 'convenience of slow cooking can't be 否定するd' because it means you don't have to 'watch over a saucepan for hours'.

When it (機の)カム to cooking the beef and vegetable stew, the induction hob once again (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 the slow cooker on energy 消費.?

The stew took just over an hour and a half on the induction hob and cost 23p in energy, while the slow cooker took around four hours and cost nearly t wice as much ーに関して/ーの点でs of heating.

This time the induction hob didn't have things all its own way, however.

In fact, tests showed that induction hobs pictured) use significantly less energy when it comes to some cooking tasks

Experts have previously found that a pressure cooker is the cheapest and quickest way to roast a chicken, taking 32 minutes and costing a tiny 11p - 28p cheaper than the electric oven

専門家s have 以前 設立する that a 圧力 cooker is the cheapest and quickest way to roast a chicken, taking 32 minutes and costing a tiny 11p - 28p cheaper than the electric oven

That's because Which's lab 専門家s 設立する that the stew made in the slow cooker was わずかに better than the one cooked on the induction hob.?

Although the vegetables were a little overcooked, the meat was tender and the stew had a good consistency, the 消費者 group said.

By comparison, the stew made on the induction hob 'was too thin and the meat was a little 乾燥した,日照りの'.

This is not the first time that Which? has looked at how energy efficient different kitchen 器具s are.

The group 以前 設立する that 空気/公表する fryers 証明するd up to three times cheaper than a 従来の oven to run, and cooked the food 平等に 同様に or even better.

However, because 空気/公表する fryers can cost anywhere between £30 and £300, the group said it may take time for any 貯金 made on 維持費s to 相殺する the 購入(する).

Microwaves, 圧力 cookers and slow cookers were also 設立する to have lower 維持費s than ovens, but did not always give the best results in Which's 実験(する)s.

ーに関して/ーの点でs of the lightbulb (人命などを)奪う,主張する, it is true that on the 直面する of it slow cookers should be more energy efficient than induction hobs because they 要求する いっそう少なく 力/強力にする to run.

For instance, the slow cooker Which? used was 率d at?320W, 反して the induction hob was 7.2kW (or 7,200W).?

But even though they need いっそう少なく 力/強力にする, they're used for much longer, so 結局最後にはーなる costing more.

'There has been a big 殺到する of 利益/興味 in slow cookers in 最近の months as millions of 世帯s across the country are feeling the 圧力s of the cost of living 危機. But our 研究 shows that they might not be the cheapest way to cook,' said Which? energy editor?Emily Seymour.

'Slow cookers are said to use いっそう少なく energy than a lightbulb.?

More experiments: The microwave was the cheapest and quickest method of steaming broccoli, previous Which? tests have shown. The consumer group said it cost just 3p to cook the broccoli florets in five minutes, while the induction hob gave the best results

More 実験s: The microwave was the cheapest and quickest method of steaming broccoli, previous Which? 実験(する)s have shown. The 消費者 group said it cost just 3p to cook the broccoli florets in five minutes, while the induction hob gave the best results

'However if you're thinking of buying one to help save energy and you already own an induction hob, it might not be 価値(がある) it as our 実験(する)ing 設立する induction hobs use いっそう少なく energy to make the same meals, making them cheaper to run.'

She 追加するd: 'Slow cookers do come with 追加するd convenience, as you can get a bowl of steaming hot soup without having to stand watch over a saucepan, although the cooking 過程 can take a few hours.'

In 結論, Which? said that if you already own an induction hob, it makes sense t o use it for cooking things such as soups and stews, rather than 投資するing in a slow cooker 特に to carry out these 職業s.?

However, the 消費者 group said that 'slow cookers do have the 追加するd advantage of 存在 able to chuck everything in and do something else while you wait'.

For this 推論する/理由, you might choose a slow cooker for the convenience, just don't 推定する/予想する it to save you money on your energy?― or for it to be cheaper than a lightbulb.
