Year of the tablet: iPad clones 始める，決める to flood market as 競争相手s hope to take a big bite out of Apple

An array of tablet computers are 存在 明かすd this week as the 科学（工学）技術 産業 捜し出すs to mimic the phenomenal success of Apple's iPad.

The 44th International 消費者 Electronics Show (CES) starts in Las Vegas today.

And although Apple won't be …に出席するing the 年次の 貿易（する） event, talk of the iPad is already 支配するing 訴訟／進行s anyway as its competitors try and （不足などを）補う lost ground.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hyrbid 装置 was one of the new tablets flaunted at the Las Vegas 条約 中心 at the Hilton hotel yesterday.

It 連合させるs LePad, a 10-インチ Android-力／強力にするd tablet, with a Windows-力／強力にするd base 駅／配置する. The 装置 can be used as a laptop, or the tablet section can be re moved from the base and operated 独立して.

The IdeaPad U1 is 現在／一般に only on sale in 中国, but is 予定 to be 解放（する）d in Britain and the U.S. later this year.

Taiwanese 会社／堅い Asus, 一方／合間, （機の）カム out with all guns 炎ing as it 発表するd 計画（する）s to sell four tablet computers - inc luding laptop / tablet hybrids - in the hope that variety is the best 武器 against the iPad.

They 含むd the Eee Pad Transformer, which is another laptop that 分裂（する）s in two to 機能（する）／行事 as a tablet, and the Eee Pad Slider, a tablet with a keyboard that slides out of its left 味方する.

Best of both worlds? Like the Eee Pad Transformer, the Lenovo IdeaPad U1 is also a laptop that can 機能（する）／行事 as a standalone tablet (above and below)

Mr Shih said: 'We admire companies like Apple that 申し込む／申し出 広大な／多数の／重要な 革新, but they 供給する very 限られた／立憲的な choices for the 顧客s.

'Different 肉親，親類d of 顧客s have different 肉親，親類d of needs, and the best way to better serve them is to 供給する choice.'

Asus, which essentially created the market for low-price netbooks with the 2007 開始する，打ち上げる of the Eee PC line, will need this 戦略 to pan out if 消費者s gravitate toward tablets as quickly as 分析家s 推定する／予想する.

分析家s believe the iPad will still account for the 本体，大部分／ばら積みの of the 55million tablets that are 推定する／予想するd to be sold this year, but there's still room for 競争相手s to 争う for sales of the remaining ten to 15million 装置s.

Asus hopes the Transformer and its other tablets will be の中で the 勝利者s.

Mr Shih said the Transformer will run the 近づいている Honeycomb 見解／翻訳／版 of Google's Android ソフトウェア, which will be more geared toward tablets than the 現在の 見解／翻訳／版 for smart phones.

It will get up to 16 hours of 殴打／砲列 life and 含む an Nvidia Tegra 2 二重の-核心 加工業者.

The Transformer is 始める，決める to begin selling in the U.S. in April for $399 to $699, depending on its configuration. It is 始める，決める for 解放（する） in Britain later this year.

Asus has not said how much memory it will 含む.

The Slider will have the same 金物類／武器類 features as the Transformer - 含むing the same 加工業者, 10.1inch 審査する, and Android operating ソフトウェア - but its keyboard won't be detachable.

The Slider, which will be 0.7 インチs 厚い, is scheduled to be sold in the U.S. starting in May for between $499 and $799, and in the UK later this year. Mr Shih did not say how much built-in memory it will have.

The company 現在のd two other tablets 同様に - the Eee 予定する, which appeared to be the same tablet he showed at the Computex Show in Taiwan last year, and the Eee Pad MeMO.

The 予定する, which will run Microsoft's 基準 PC operating ソフトウェア, Windows 7, will come with a 12.1inch touch 審査する that has 1280 x 800 pixel 決意／決議. It will 含む a 34-gigabyte or 64-gigabyte hard 運動 and a more powerful Intel 核心 i5 二重の-核心 加工業者.

The MeMO will have a seven インチ touch 審査する and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 加工業者. It will run the Honeycomb 見解／翻訳／版 of Android.

The 予定する will cost $999 to $1,099 and be 利用できる in the U.S. this month, while the MeMO is 始める，決める to be sold for $499 to $699 in June. Both are 推定する／予想するd to be sold in the UK later in 2011.

All the 近づいている tablets will 含む the ability to play high-鮮明度／定義 ビデオ. All but the 予定する will have cameras on the 前線 and 支援する for taking photos and ビデオ chatting; the 予定する will have one camera on its 直面する.

DisplaySearch 分析家 Richard Semenza 概算の that a hundred different tablet models are in 開発, though not all of them will reach 蓄える／店 棚上げにするs.

Competing tablets will have a hard time catching up to Apple's lead, at least this year. Certainly, no one managed to do so last year, even though a lot of 製造業者s, 含むing Dell, brought out tablets. Samsung did have some success with its 星雲 Tab, but sales didn't come の近くに to the iPad's.

Apple sold 7.4million iPads until the end of September, in the 装置's first six months on sale. That means they're already outselling Apple's Mac computers, but not iPods or iPhones.

分析家 Shaw Wu at Kaufman Bros. believes Apple sold another 6.1million iPads in the October to December ４半期/4分の1, and there's every 指示，表示する物 that it was a popular holiday gift.

Apple's would-be competitors 含む Motorola, which has been hinting that it will show off its first tablet at the show. Dell and Acer are also 推定する／予想するd to show tablets.
