See the Universe like NEVER before: UK scientists use the Euclid 宇宙船 to take the largest images of the cosmos ever taken from space - 明らかにする/漏らすing a 'jellyfish' 星雲 and a clone of the 乳の Way

  • Euclid is on six-year 使節団 to create the most 広範囲にわたる 3D 地図/計画する of the universe
  • It's 解放(する)d another five never-before-seen images of 星雲s, 星雲 and more

素晴らしい new photos from the European Space 機関's (ESA's) Euclid 調査(する) show the largest images of the cosmos ever taken.

The UK-支援するd 宇宙船, which 爆破d off from Florida last summer, returns five new snaps from its vantage point about one million miles from Earth.?

の中で them is a 発射 of a spiral 星雲?30 million light-years away that looks like our own 乳の Way and a beautiful cloud of faraway gas and dust 形態/調整d like a jellyfish.?

There's also distant '星雲 clusters' ? several 星雲s held together by gravity ? 逮捕(する)d in 'exquisite' 詳細(に述べる) thanks to the 調査(する)'s infrared sensors.?

This second trove comes?six months after Euclid returned its first 十分な-colour images of the cosmos.?

The new collection includes a nebula (left) a spiral galaxy that looks like our Milky Way (top right) and galaxy clusters (bottom right)

Since 存在 開始する,打ち上げるd by a SpaceX ロケット/急騰する in J uly 2023, Euclid has been 駅/配置するd at L2, the?'second Lagrange point' of space?? a position in space between Earth and the sun where 反対するs sent there tend to stay put.?

L2 is 位置を示すd 930,000 miles (1.5 million km) 直接/まっすぐに 'behind' the Earth as 見解(をとる)d from the sun ? nearly four times その上の away from the Earth than the moon ever reaches.

'These are the largest images of the Universe ever taken from space, covering large 列s of the sky in 罰金 詳細(に述べる),' said?示す Cropper, professor of Astrophysics at University College London.?

'They 論証する Euclid’s wide-範囲ing 可能性のある, from discovering new 惑星s to 調査するing 広大な clusters of 星雲s.'?

MESSIER '78?

The 選ぶ of the bunch is a 'breathtaking' 発射 of 星雲 called Messier '78, 位置を示すd about 1,600 light-years away from Earth.?

星雲 are enormous clouds of dust and gas 占領するing the space between 星/主役にするs, and 行為/法令/行動する as a 'nursery' for new 星/主役にするs.?

This 'vibrant' stellar nursery is enveloped in a shroud of interstellar dust, which?Euclid was able to peer through using its?infrared camera.?

'Clumps' of gas and dust are pulled together by gravity to create 'コンビナート/複合体 filaments' of dark orange and pinky-purple ? giving an 全体にわたる 形態/調整 類似の to a jellyfish.?

Messier 78: The colourful image looks like a bizarre species of jellyfish but it's actually a nebula - a huge cloud of gas and dust where stars are born

What is the Euclid 使節団?

The Euclid space telescope will create a 地図/計画する of the universe across space and time by 観察するing billions of 星雲s out to 10 billion light-years, across more than a third of the sky.?

Euclid will 調査する how the universe has 拡大するd and how structure has formed over cosmic history, 明らかにする/漏らすing more about the 役割 of gravity and the nature of dark energy and dark 事柄.?

Dark 事柄 makes up most of the 集まり of 星雲s and 星雲 clusters, and is 責任がある the way 星雲s are 組織するd on grand 規模s. Dark energy, 一方/合間, is the mysterious 影響(力) 運動ing the 加速するd 拡大 of the universe.?

NGC 6744

NGC 6744 is a spiral 星雲 about 30 million light-years away in the 星座 Pavo, also known as the Peacock.?

'Exquisite' 詳細(に述べる) is 明らかにする/漏らすd in the new image of the 星雲, 含むing?feather-like 小道/航路s of dust 現れるing as ‘刺激(する)s’ from the spiral 武器.?

天文学者s believe that 星雲s have spiral 武器 because 星雲s 回転/交替?around a central axis, although?the physics behind the structure of spiral 星雲s is something that’s still not fully understood even after 10年間s of 熟考する/考慮する.?

What they do know is that the spiral structure is important in 星雲s, because the 武器 move and compress gas to foster 星/主役にする 形式 (most of which occurs along these 武器).

NGC 6744 has been 述べるd as a lookalike for our own 乳の Way 星雲 because they are both spiral and have similarities as seen in 宇宙船 images.

But NGC 6744 is twice as big as our 星雲 ??175,000 light-years across compared to the 乳の Way's 100,000 light years.?

ABELL 2390

Abell 2390 is a 星雲 cluster ? a 巨大(な) conglomeration of many 星雲s ? 位置を示すd 2.7 billion light-years from Earth.?

星雲 clusters are the largest 反対するs in the universe that are held together by their own gravity.

They 含む/封じ込める hundreds or thousands of 星雲s, lots of hot plasma, and a large 量 of dark 事柄 ? invisible 集まり that only interacts with 正規の/正選手 事柄 through gravity and doesn't 放出する, 吸収する or 反映する light.

星雲 clusters like Abell 2390 are large repositories of dark 事柄, making them ideal astrophysical 研究室/実験室s for 熟考する/考慮するing its 所有物/資産/財産s.?

In this 選び出す/独身 image, more than 50,000 星雲s can be 見解(をとる)d, each one appearing as a 選び出す/独身 有望な blob, like fireflies in the night's sky.?

DORADO GROUP?

Lastly, the Dorado Group is another cluster of 星雲s, collectively spanning more than 1,000 light years in the far southern sky.??

As this image shows, Dorado's assortment of 祝祭 xies are of many 形態/調整s and sizes, from spirals to?flat and disk-形態/調整d, some very 有望な and others more faint.

As Dorado is a lot younger than other clusters, several of its 選挙権を持つ/選挙人 星雲s are still forming 星/主役にするs and remain in the 行う/開催する/段階 of interacting with one another, while others show 調印するs of having 合併するd 比較して recently.?

The 調査(する)'s 客観的な is to better understand two mysterious 構成要素s that (不足などを)補う 95 per cent of the universe ? dark 事柄 and dark energy.

Dark 事柄, which unlike normal 事柄 does not 反映する or 放出する light, 貯蔵所d together 星雲s creating the 環境 for 星/主役にするs, 惑星s and life.

一方/合間, dark energy is the mysterious 現象 which is 押し進めるing 星雲s away from each other and 原因(となる)ing the 拡大 of the universe to 加速する.?

専門家s hope Euclid will answer two 重要な questions ? what the 根底となる physical 法律s of the universe are, and how the universe 起こる/始まるd and what it is made of.?

Dark 事柄: Stuff in space that has gravity but is invisible

Dark 事柄 is a hypothetical 実体 said to (不足などを)補う 概略で 85 per cent of the universe.?

The enigmatic 構成要素 is invisible because it does not 反映する light, and has never been 直接/まっすぐに 観察するd by scientists.?

天文学者s know it to be out there because of its gravitational 影響s on known 事柄.?

The European Space 機関 says: '向こうずね a たいまつ in a 完全に dark room, and you will see only what the たいまつ illuminates.?

'That does not mean that the room around you does not 存在する.?

'類似して we know dark 事柄 存在するs but have never 観察するd it 直接/まっすぐに.'

The 構成要素 is thought to be the gravitational 'glue' that 持つ/拘留するs the 星雲s together.?

計算/見積りs show that many 星雲s would be torn apart instead of 回転/交替ing if they weren't held together by a large 量 of dark 事柄.

Just five per cent the observable universe consists of known 事柄 such as 原子s and subatomic 粒子s.?
