Which dog do YOU think is the cutest? Vets say our preference for 産む/飼育するs is changing - take the 実験(する) to see if you agree
From tiny Corgis to chunky Rottweilers, man's best friend comes in all different 形態/調整s and sizes.
But vets now say that Brits' preferences for pooches are 転換ing.
New 研究 from the 王室の Veterinary College shows that people favour dogs with more pronounced muzzles, いっそう少なく bulging 注目する,もくろむs, and longer tails.
The 研究員s say this shows a growing movement away from the flat 直面するs and short 四肢s that were once popular for 流行の/上流の 産む/飼育するs.
Dr Rowena Packer, 上級の author of the paper, told MailOnline: 'For some time, preference has appeared to be for more extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s, which have been popularised and normalised in the マスコミ.
'However, this is the first 証拠 that the tide may be turning and the public now prefers いっそう少なく extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s.'
Across all 産む/飼育するs, 関係者s said that the いっそう少なく extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s were more attractive, healthier, and made them feel happier.
So, which of the dogs do you think is the cutest? Take a look at the 実験(する) below to see if you agree with the results.

研究員s say that Britain's taste in dogs is 転換ing. Which of these three varieties of pug do you find most attractive?

A new 熟考する/考慮する 示唆するs that taste in dogs is 転換ing away from more 'extreme' 団体/死体 形態/調整s and に向かって healthier 特徴 の中で flat-直面するd dogs such as pugs?
The 熟考する/考慮する 診察するd how people 率d three different flat-直面するd, or brachycephalic, dog 産む/飼育するs: Pugs, English Bulldogs, and French Bulldogs.
Almost 500 関係者s were shown AI-生成するd images 描写するing いっそう少なく extreme, 最高の extreme, or typical 見解/翻訳/版s of the three 産む/飼育するs.
関係者s were then asked to 率 the dogs in five 部類s - perceived attractiveness, perceived health, the happiness induced by their 外見, the 倫理学 of 産む/飼育するing, and the 願望(する) for 所有権.
The results 明らかにする/漏らすd that the least extreme 見解/翻訳/版s of the 産む/飼育するs were 率d highest across all 部類s.?
Likewise, typical 見解/翻訳/版s of the 産む/飼育するs were 率d higher in all 部類s than the more extreme 見解/翻訳/版s.
Almost all 関係者s in the 熟考する/考慮する owned dogs of 変化させるing 産む/飼育するs, with just over a 4半期/4分の1 owning flat-直面するd 産む/飼育するs.
Owners of flat-直面するd 産む/飼育するs were consis tently more 肯定的な about all the dogs, no 事柄 how extreme.
The 研究員s say this is likely 予定 to dog owners showing a preference for dogs that look like their own.

The 熟考する/考慮する asked 関係者s to 率 these variations of dogs によれば their attractiveness and how happy the pictures made them feel. Which of these makes you happiest?

Even owners of flat-直面するd dogs like French Bulldogs 展示(する)d a preference for longer muzzles, smaller 注目する,もくろむs, and more natural tails?
However, even these committed owners preferred the least extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s.
This is good news for dog 福利事業 選挙運動者s who have been arguing for years that 流行の/上流の extreme 産む/飼育するing 傾向s were 主要な to 厳しい health 問題/発行するs.
Dr Packer says: 'Extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s are created by 人工的な 選択 for genetic 突然変異s.
'The consequent 団体/死体 形態/調整s break natural 生物学の 限界s for dogs and lead to a 範囲 of chronic, 厳しい disorders that 減ずる 質 of life and lifespan.'
For example, flat 直面するs make it harder for dogs to breathe, while short, curly tails are associated with spinal 病気s and paralysis.
The fact that the public is now starting to prefer more natural dogs might be a 調印する that 選挙運動者s' messages are starting to have an 影響.
Dr Paul Manktelow, Director of Veterinary Services at animal charity Blue Cross, says: 'At Blue Cross we see all too often how pets with extreme features を煩う painful 条件s that often 要求する 高くつく/犠牲の大きい 外科 to 扱う/治療する.
'This 熟考する/考慮する 供給するs hope that it doesn’t have to be this way.'

Which of these three 見解/翻訳/版s of an English Bulldog looks the healthiest to you?

More extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s, such as flat 直面するs, are associated with a number of health 問題/発行するs and shorter life 見込みs?
Data from the Kennel Club 示唆するs that 登録s for pedigree flat-直面するd puppies have been 落ちるing over the last few years.
However, a 熟考する/考慮する published by the 王室の Veterinary College last year 設立する that French Bulldogs were the most popular 産む/飼育する for new owners, making up 7 per cent of all puppies under one year old in 2019.
This 反映するs how stubborn preferences for these unhealthy 産む/飼育するs can be.
Dr Packer's previous 研究 設立する that health problems 直面するd by flat-直面するd 産む/飼育するs, such as 存在 unable to 演習 予定 to s keletal 問題/発行するs, were normalised by their owners.
One in seven flat-直面するd owners said 'nothing' could 説得する them against getting an unhealthy dog.
Likewise, many believed their dogs' 'laziness' was a 高度に 望ましい trait, にもかかわらず this often 存在 原因(となる)d by breathing or musculoskeletal problems.
Dr Packer says: 'Many 子孫を作る人s show 抵抗 to changing the 団体/死体 形態/調整 of their 産む/飼育する.
'Given that 子孫を作る人s 持つ/拘留する the 力/強力にする to make 決定/判定勝ち(する)s over which types of dog are bred, and 現在の 法律制定 around extreme 産む/飼育するing is not 施行するd in the UK, the market is still 支配するd by extreme dogs, giving the public いっそう少なく choice to 表明する their preferences when acquiring a puppy.'

研究員s 設立する that Britons 終始一貫して 率d いっそう少なく extreme 団体/死体 形態/調整s (dog 1 in the 実験(する) 見本s) as more attractive, healthier, and more 倫理的な to 産む/飼育する than more extreme 見解/翻訳/版s?
In the 未来, Dr Packer says she would like to see 基準s changed to encourage いっそう少なく extreme 産む/飼育するs.
These could 含む 限界s on how extreme a dog's physical traits can be, 類似の to 法律s 課すd in the Netherlands.
By 制限するing the extremes of dog 産む/飼育するing, the 基準 may 転換 支援する に向かって the preferences of most people and start to favour healthier 形態/調整s.?
'Prioritising 倫理学 and 福利事業 in 産む/飼育するing over aesthetics is 重要な for a happy, healthy 未来 for dogs,' says Dr Packer.
