150-million-year-old oyster which is ten times normal size probably 含む／封じ込めるs the world's biggest pearl - but no-one wants to open it to find out
A 145million-year-old oyster 化石 trawled up off the south coast by fishermen could 含む／封じ込める the mother of all pearls.
専門家s used 医療の MRI scanning 科学（工学）技術 to analyse the 化石 to discover if there was a rare gem inside.
And their results showed up a mysterious smooth 反対する about the size of a ゴルフ ball.

FORMED AS A DEFENCE MECHANISM
Natural pearls are formed inside the 爆撃するs of bivalve molluscs as a defence 機械装置 against a 潜在的に 脅すing irritant, such as a parasite.
The mollusc creates a pearl sac of 外部の mantle tissue 独房s and secretes the calcium carbonate and conchiolin to 調印（する） off the irritation.

Lindsay Holloway, from the 水槽, said: ‘It was discovered in the 逮捕するs of a fishing boat which was dredging here in the Solent.
