One in a hundred children are 'psychopathic', 警告する 研究員s - and they say there is nothing parents can do to 支配(する)/統制する them
- Scientists say 影響する/感情d children 嘘(をつく), cheat, manipulate and commit 行為/法令/行動するs of remorseless cruelty
- 伝統的な 罰s have no 影響 on their behaviour
Around 1 per cent of children could be inherently psychopathic, with parents unable to turn around their behaviour, によれば 研究員s.
Up until now, children who 嘘(をつく), manipulate and commit 行為/法令/行動するs of cruelty without 悔恨 were thought to be the 製品 of poor parenting.
But psychologists at University College London said two 熟考する/考慮するs which they carried out showed such traits are 大部分は genetic.
研究員s 設立する that one in 100 British children 陳列する,発揮する 調印するs of psychopathic behaviour, and that normal parenting methods rarely work because the children an incapable of empathy
It means typical 罰s such as the 'naughty step' are ありそうもない to be 効果的な.
The 主題 is 調査するd in bestselling novel We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver, which is about a mother struggling to come to 条件 with her psychopathic, 殺し屋 son.
Lead 研究員 Professor Essi Viding said the novel was a good 描写 of a child psychopath and how their behaviour cannot be 非難するd on parents.
She said: 'Yes, the mother was not a perfect mother. But this mother managed to bring up one child [Kevin's sister] who was perfectly 井戸/弁護士席-統合するd and typical, and another child who was 極端に, 極端に troublesome.'
The 研究員s said such children, which they 述べる as 'callous-unemotional', form a 際立った sub-group of 不正に behaved youngsters.
They 予報するd between a 4半期/4分の1 and half of children with 行為/行う problems could 落ちる into this 部類, equating to around 1 per cent of all children in the UK.
The 研究員s also 警告する that 伝統的な parenting methods to discipline children such as the naughty step are ありそうもない to work
Professor Viding said that although children who had anti-social behavioural 傾向s were more likely to be the 製品 of poor parenting, this was not the 事例/患者 for children with psychopathic 傾向s.
She said: 'For the group which has callous-unemotional traits, there's a strong genetic vulnerability.
'This does not mean these children are born anti-social or are 運命にあるd to become anti-social.
'Bu t in the same way that some of us are more susceptible to heart 病気, these children are people who are more 攻撃を受けやすい to 環境の 影響(力)s that 誘発する/引き起こす the anti-social 結果.'
However, Professor Viding, who will 現在の her findings at the British Science Festival in Aberdeen next week, said there is some 証拠 that psychopathic children 答える/応じる to 'warm parenting'.
This might mean giving children what they want in return for good behaviour, even against the parents' better judgment.
