Oxford University web 事業/計画(する) lets you 令状 your 指名する in the 星/主役にするs (as you help categorise the universe and become the first pair of 注目する,もくろむs to 見解(をとる) distant 星雲s)

  • Oxford University 事業/計画(する) gets web-使用者s to 分類する millions of new 星雲s spotted by Hubble and ground-based telescopes
  • As a 特別手当, 使用者s get to 令状 their 指名するs with letters 形態/調整d from 星雲s
  • If you 分類する a 星雲 on the website, you are probably the first sentient 存在 to gaze at the billions and billions of 星/主役にするs within

Now you can 令状 your 指名する in the 星/主役にするs - and it is all thanks to members of the public.

With 付加 thanks to Oxford University, which five years ago 始める,決める up the 星雲 Zoo 事業/計画(する) - a 企て,努力,提案 to get the public helping 天文学者s 精査する through the 圧倒的な influx of data 注ぐing in from the far reaches of the universe.

The university uploaded over a million images of 星雲s 逮捕(する)d by telescopes such as Hubble, and then asked web-使用者s to 見解(をとる) and 分類する them によれば their 形態/調整.

So far, 250,000 people have helped with the work, turning the data into a wealth of 科学の knowledge - 同様に as a nifty web 使用/適用 that lets you (一定の)期間 宣告,判決s out using actual 星雲s to form the letters.

And, as an 付加 特別手当, as no-one has 始める,決める 注目する,もくろむs on these images before you, you are the first human to gaze at these far-flung places.

The 星雲 Writer has become a popular and fun 道具 for both 星/主役にする-gazers and casual browsers, 同様に as serving as a 宣伝の 道具 for the endeavour.

But beyond (一定の)期間ing on an intergalactic level, the 過程 is helping to 分類する spiral 星雲s, elliptical 星雲s, and many 不規律な-形態/調整d ones, 含むing, によれば the 研究員s, one which looks like a penguin.

From today, the 場所/位置 含むs more another 250,000 new images of 星雲s, most of which have never been seen by humans.

星雲 Zoo 主要な/長/主犯 捜査官/調査官 Dr Chris Lintott, from the University of Oxford, said: 'We’d like to thank all those that have taken part in 星雲 Zoo in the past five years.

'Humans are better than computers at pattern 承認 仕事s like this, and we couldn’t have got so far without everyone’s help.

'Now we’ve got a new challenge and we’d like to encourage volunteers old and new to get 伴う/関わるd.

'You don’t have to be an 専門家 ? in fact we’ve 設立する not 存在 an 専門家 tends to make you better at this 仕事.

'There are too many images for us to 検査/視察する ourselves, but by asking hundreds of thousands of people to help us we can find out what’s lurking in the data.'

の中で the spiral and elliptical 星雲s that the volunteers have characterised and 分類するd, they have 設立する an entire alphabet of 星雲s.

星雲 Zoo team member Dr Steven Bamford of the University of Nottingham has created a website at www.mygalaxies.co.uk where anyone can 令状 their 指名する in the 星/主役にするs.

The team are also keen to 追加する more animals to the volunteers’ celestial zoo, having 設立する a 納得させるing penguin-形態/調整d 星雲.

ABC as 平易な as 123: Scientists are also finding 不規律な 形態/調整s in the skies, 原因(となる)d when 星雲s 衝突する/食い違う

Along with the quirky 控訴,上告 of such findings, the 研究員s 示唆する such unusual 形式s may also tell us something about what happens when 星雲s 衝突する/食い違う.

The new images on the 星雲 Zoo 場所/位置 come from the Sloan 数字表示式の Sky 調査する, a ground-based telescope in New Mexico, and from large 調査するs with 航空宇宙局’s Hubb le Space Telescope.

天文学者 and 星雲 Zoo team member Kevin Schawinski from ETH Zurich in Switzerland said: 'The two sources of data work together perfectly: the new images from Sloan give us our most 詳細(に述べる)d 見解(をとる) of the 地元の universe, while the CANDELS 調査する from the Hubble telescope 許すs us to look deeper into the universe’s past than ever before.'

The team are hoping that the hard work of volunteers on the new 場所/位置 will 許す data from the two telescopes to be compared, 申し込む/申し出ing insights into how nearby 星雲s as we see them today may have arisen from how the universe looked in the past.

Dr Karen Masters from the University of Portsmouth, another team member, said: 'In astronomy, we’re lucky enough to get to see both the past and the 現在の of the universe.

'By comparing the two, we can try to understand the 軍隊s which have 形態/調整d the 形式 of the 星雲s in it, 含むing our own 乳の Way.'
