  • 海洋 biologists will 試みる/企てる to find the 'loneliest 鯨 in the world'
  • 探検隊/遠征隊 will be transformed into a 文書の by Josh Zeman
  • 専門家s have been listening to the animal's 52 hertz song for 20 years
  • It's thought he communicates at a frequency not used by any other 鯨

For 20 years he has sung out plaintively in search of a friend, without getting any reply.

Now an 探検隊/遠征隊 is 存在 planned to find and 熟考する/考慮する the world’s loneliest 鯨, who is 簡単に known as 52.

にもかかわらず listening to the animal's abnormally high song of 52 hertz for over 20 years, 研究員s have never seen what it looks like.

A team of scientists and documentary makers will attempt to find 'the loneliest whale in the world' in autumn. The creature has been calling out at a frequency not used by any other whales in the North Pacific Ocean for the last 20 years. A stock image of a fin whale is shown

The unknown male 鯨 is called 'lonely' because he appears to communicate at a frequency not used by any other 鯨 in the North 太平洋の, and so far, it is not thought to have ever got a 返答 to his songs.

Possible partners may not be able to hear him, or his song may be so different from their own that they can’t understand it, but this has not stopped 52 singing into oblivion.

専門家s believe the 抱擁する 哺乳動物 is most likely a fin 鯨, but he could be a blue 鯨, or a hybrid of the two 種類.

ーするために learn more about the 鯨, Josh Zeman, a 40-year-old film 製造者 based in Los Angeles, has 開始する,打ち上げるd a Kickstarter (選挙などの)運動をする to find and tag the 52 hertz 鯨.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF WHALE SONG?

  • 鯨 sounds are used by 鯨s for different 肉親,親類d of communication
  • The word 'song' is used to 述べる the pattern of 正規の/正選手 and predictable sounds made by some 種類 of 鯨s.
  • Only males 'sing'.?
  • While the コンビナート/複合体 sounds of the 猫背/ザトウ鯨 鯨 and some blue 鯨s are believed to be まず第一に/本来 used in 性の 選択, all 鯨s use simpler sounds all year 一連の会議、交渉/完成する to communicate.
  • 鯨s 占領するing the same geographical areas, which can be 広大な, tend to sing 類似の songs with only small variations.
  • Male 猫背/ザトウ鯨 鯨s have been 述べるd as 'inveterate 作曲家s' of songs and 専門家s have said that their songs are 類似の to human music in many ways.

Together with 側近 星/主役にする, Adrian Grenier and a team of 海洋 biologists, he 目的(とする)s to raise $300,000.

So far the (選挙などの)運動をする has pulled in $57,465 and 支援者s can receive everything from a 52 ringtone and mix tape 奮起させるd by the 鯨, to 調印するd 調書をとる/予約するs, tickets to the film 首相 and even a lesson to swim like a mermaid.

‘We will be 開始するing a 20 day 探検隊/遠征隊 that will take us 400 miles off the California coast out into the open ocean,’ によれば the Kickstarter page.

‘Using 明言する/公表する of the art 科学(工学)技術, our goal is to be the first 探検隊/遠征隊 ever to tag and acoustically 監視する a hybrid 鯨 using 非,不,無-invasive tags.

‘At the same time, we will also be collecting data in an 成果/努力 to help scientists 手段 the growing 脅し of ocean noise 汚染 that is 害(を与える)ing cetaceans all across the 惑星 含むing 鯨s’

He will also make a 文書の about the trip, which is planned to take place in the autumn.

The US 海軍 began passing recordings of 鯨 song to scientists in the late 1980s, 発見 News 報告(する)/憶測d.

It 選ぶd up the haunting noises when trying to listen for 潜水艦s in the North 太平洋の.

In 1989, Dr William Watkins of the 支持を得ようと努めるd 穴を開ける 海洋学の 会・原則 began to sort through the recordings and noticed that one 鯨's song was much higher in pitch than the others.

Most male fin and blue 鯨s sing at around 17 to 18 hertz, which is too 深い for humans to hear, but the 'lonely' 鯨 communicates at 52 hertz.

When more recordings were 解放(する)d in the nineties, Dr Watkins 熟考する/考慮するd the 52 hertz 鯨 more closely.

Dr Watkins' team was able to triangulate its movements and 跡をつける its 場所 across the ocean during mating season, when 鯨s are at their most 声の and published a paper on his findings in 2004.?

In order to learn more about the whale, Josh Zeman (pictured left), a 40-year-old film maker based in Los Angeles, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to find and tag the 52 hertz whale. It is supported by Entourage star, Adrian Grenier (right) and a team of marine biologists

Scientists have been listening to the whale for two decades but no-one has seen it, so they are not sure exactly what species they are looking for. Experts believe the huge mammal is is most likely that it is a fin whale (pictured) but could be a hybrid of a blue and a fin whale

AIM OF THE KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN?

The 即座の goal is to raise a 最小限 of $300,000 (£194,851) to cover the costs of a 科学の trip.

A 20 day 探検隊/遠征隊 will travel 400 miles (644km) off the California coast into the open ocean.

It's planned for autumn.?

海洋 biologists hope to tag and 監視する the sounds of a hybrid 鯨. 52 is thought to be a hybrid of a fin 鯨 and blue 鯨.

They will also collect data to help scientists shed light on whether ocean noise 汚染 is 害(を与える)ing cetaceans, 含むing 鯨s.

This is when the 鯨’s love-lorn predicament first 逮捕(する)d the world’s attention and the 52 hertz animal was dubbed 'the loneliest 鯨 in the world'.

As Dr Watkins sadly died from 癌 before his 研究 逮捕(する)d the imagination of the public, his 研究 assistant Mary-Ann Daher has carried on his 科学の 遺産/遺物.

She said that the team has never seen the 鯨 they have been 熟考する/考慮するing and do not know what 種類 it is.

They do not know if it is medically unusual but she said it is 明白に healthy as it has been living for at least two 10年間s.

However, when it (機の)カム to musing about the creature's loneliness, Ms Daher said: 'Is he alone? I don’t know.

'People like to imagine this creature out there swimming by his lonesome, just singing away and nobody’s listening. But I can’t say that.'

She said ‘…everybody feels so sorry for this 鯨 ? but what if this 鯨 is having a 広大な/多数の/重要な time?’

Mr Zeman decribed the 鯨 as inspirational in an interview with 予定する magazine, and said that he wants to find the 鯨 for all the people who think about it.?

‘It's not just about jumping in 前線 of him and 説, “Hey, we're here!” And giving him a 抱擁する when he doesn't want one. It's more about what it means for us.’

‘For some people, he's so lonely and for others he’s celebrating his alone-ness.'?
