Not such Philistines after all: 古代の culture introduced cumin, bay leaves and あへん poppies into the Middle Eastern diet

They are an 古代の warmongering people whose 指名する has become associated with cultural ignorance.
But the Philistines were not as 欠如(する)ing in sophistication as the modern use of their 指名する 示唆するs, によれば 最近の findings.
In fact, they appear to have had a 深い fascination with exotic 工場/植物s and flavours and were 責任がある introducing many new 種類 to the Middle East.

Archaeologists have discovered the 古代の sea-faring culture is 責任がある first introducing cumin, sycamore, bay leaves and even あへん poppies to the 地域's diet.
They say there is growing 証拠 that the Philistines were also the first community to 偉業/利用する 70 工場/植物s that grew in イスラエル 含むing wild radish, saltwort and henbane.
It appears the Philistines were 責任がある an '農業の 革命' in the Middle East during the アイロンをかける Age between 1200 BC and 600 BC.
And this 示唆するs the Philistines were 現実に the 高さ of 農業の and culinary sophistication at the time compared to their Israelite 隣人s.
The 研究員s said that during their 600-year presence in イスラエル and the surrounding areas, the Philistines left a '生物学の 遺産' of 工場/植物s that are still cultivated in the country today.
Suembikya Frumin, an archaeologist from 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業-Ilan University in イスラエル who led the work, said: 'The 範囲 of 偉業/利用するd 工場/植物 種類 changed 意味ありげに in the wake of the 外見 of the Philistine culture.
'It 拡大するd to 含む several 種類 which had not been cultivated in the 先行する Bronze Age in the Levant along with many synanthropic 少しのd and wild 種類.
'The 外見 of the Philistine culture, with its foreign human elements which arrived by 移住, was …を伴ってd by translocation of 工場/植物 and animal 種類 that derive from diverse localities, and together with the introduction of new 農地の 科学(工学)技術s led to changes in diet and land-use.'

The Philistines were a group of people who often 衝突/不一致d with the Israelites and are について言及するd several times in the Hebrew bible, 含むing the famous story 伴う/関わるing the Philistine 巨大(な) Goliath.
They are thought to have been one of a number of cultures collectively known as the Sea Peoples who began (警察の)手入れ,急襲ing around the Mediterranean at the end of the Bronze Age.
Large numbers are thought to have settled in イスラエル and the surrounding areas, becoming a major 軍隊 before 存在 吸収するd into the Babalonyian and Persian empires.
The 研究員s, whose findings are published in the 定期刊行物 科学の 報告(する)/憶測s, 収集するd a database of more than one million 工場/植物 remains that have been 設立する at archaeological 場所/位置s, 含むing seeds, fruits and flowers.
Cumin is now a popular spice but in the Bronze Age its use was 限られた/立憲的な to just a handful of small areas in Egypt. 研究員s have 設立する the Philistines appear to have helped introduce it to どこかよそで in the Middle East
They compared those from the Bronze Age 事前の to when the Philistine culture is thought to have arrived with those the アイロンをかける Age.
They also compared the 工場/植物 remains 設立する in large Philistine cities such as Ekron, Gath and Ashkelon with those from 非,不,無-Philistine 場所/位置s.
Dozens of 工場/植物s that appear to have been absent in the area through the Bronze Ages were 設立する to appear in the Philistine towns and cities.
These 含むd the sycamore tree, Ficus sycomorus, an African 種類 whose fruits became popular in the eastern Mediterranean, and cumin.

The 研究員s 設立する 52 per cent of 工場/植物 種類 設立する at Philistine 場所/位置s were new 種類 that were not 存在 used during the Bronze ages.
By comparison just 30 per cent of new 種類 were 設立する in 非,不,無-Philistine 場所/位置s.
The 研究員s said there is also 証拠 some 種類 such as the Bay tree, which had been used for 木材/素質 during the Bronze Age in イスラエル, started 存在 used for food by the Philistines.
類似して they are thought to have introduced the use of coriander, which had been used in Egypt during the Bronze Age, into the diet in イスラエル.
The 熟考する/考慮する continued that this fits with the idea that the Philistines migrated to the area bringing with them the diets and farming habits of other 古代の cultures.
