British scientists discover three 巨大（な）惑星s hotter and heavier than Jupiter - with a little help from eBay

A British-led team of scientists have discovered three 惑星s which are hotter and heavier than Jupiter, but with a little bit of help from internet auction 場所／位置 eBay.

The 惑星s, 指名するd Wasp-3b, Wasp-4b and Wasp-5b, were 設立する by a team led by 天文学者s from St Andrews University in Fife.

The team used a powerful 器具 fitted with 16 cameras to produce the new images but as they 組み立てる／集結するd the 器具／備品 they discovered that they were 13 レンズs short and that the camera's 製造業者 had discontinued the 製品.

An artist's impression 逮捕（する）s how one of the 巨大（な）惑星s, which are hundreds of light years away from Earth, might look from space.

Professor Andrew Cameron, of St Andrews University, said the 惑星s were "surprisingly 激しい".

"These 惑星s are gas 惑星s like Jupiter, but are very much hotter because they are around 50 per cent closer to their 星／主役にするs," he said.

"They are 軌道ing their 星／主役にするs so closely that their 'year' lasts いっそう少なく than two days.

"These are の中で the shortest 軌道の periods yet discovered.

"We are beginning to 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑う it is only very 激しい惑星s that can 生き残る in such の近くに軌道s around the parent 星／主役にする.

"The finding of Jupiter-集まり惑星s around other 星／主役にするs supports the idea that there are also many Earth-sized 惑星s waiting to be discovered as 天文学者s' 科学（工学）技術改善するs."

The three 'wasps' were 位置を示すd using specialist cameras in La Palma in the Canary Islands and Sutherland in South Africa.

The data was then analysed at the Haute-Provence 観測所 in フラン.

Here the team were able to calculate the 負わせるs of the 惑星s.

This was done my 手段ing the "wobble" of the host 星／主役にする as the 惑星軌道s it.

The 惑星s, which 嘘（をつく） outside our solar system, are larger than Jupiter.

They are also more than 2,000 degrees hotter, making extra-terrestrial life impossible.

Scientists say the find gives them 決定的な（警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） about how a 惑星's composition can help its chance of 生き残り.

基金ing for the 事業／計画（する）, which 最初 cost around ￡600,000, has come from the three universities and the Science and 科学（工学）技術施設会議.

More than 200 extra-solar 惑星s are known to 天文学者s.
