WHAT CAUSED THE COLLAPSE OF THE MAYAN CIVILISATION?

For hundreds of years the Mayans 支配するd large parts of the Americas until, mysteriously in the 8th and 9th century AD, a large chunk of the Mayan civilisation 崩壊(する)d.

The 推論する/理由 for this 崩壊(する) has been hotly 審議d, but now scientists say they might have an answer - an 激しい 干ばつ that lasted a century.

熟考する/考慮するs of sediments in the 広大な/多数の/重要な Blue 穴を開ける in Belize 示唆する a 欠如(する) of rains 原因(となる)d the disintegration of the Mayan civilisation, and a second 日照り続き 軍隊d them to relocate どこかよそで.

The theory that a 干ばつ led to a 拒絶する/低下する of the Mayan Classic Period is not 完全に new, but the new 熟考する/考慮する co-authored by Dr Andr? Droxler from Rice University in Texas 供給するs fresh 証拠 for the (人命などを)奪う,主張するs.

The Maya who built Chichen Itza came to dominate ?the Yucatan Peninsula in southeast Mexico, shown above, for hundreds of years before dissappearing mysteriously in the 8th and 9th century AD

The Maya who built Chichen Itza (機の)カム to 支配する ?the Yucatan 半島 in southeast Mexico, shown above, for hundreds of years before dissappearing mysteriously in the 8th and 9th century AD

Dozens of theories have 試みる/企てるd to explain the Classic Maya 崩壊(する), from 疫病/流行性の 病気s to foreign 侵略.?

With his team Dr Droxler 設立する that from 800 to 1000 AD, no more than two 熱帯の サイクロンs occurred every two 10年間s, when usually there were up to six.

This 示唆するs major 干ばつs occurred in these years, かもしれない 主要な to 飢饉s and 不安 の中で the Mayan people.?

And they also 設立する that a second 干ばつ 攻撃する,衝突する from 1000 to 1100 AD, corresponding to the time that the Mayan city of Chich?n Itz? 崩壊(する)d.?

研究員s say a 気候 reve rsal and 乾燥した,日照りのing 傾向 between 660 and 1000 AD 誘発する/引き起こすd political 競争, 増加するd 戦争, 全体にわたる sociopolitical 不安定, and finally, political 崩壊(する) - known as the Classic Maya 崩壊(する).

This was followed by an 延長するd 干ばつ between AD 1020 and 1100 that likely corresponded with 刈る 失敗s, death, 飢饉, 移住 and, 最終的に, the 崩壊(する) of the Maya 全住民.
