When we asked you to 指名する the women you truly admire ― those making 抱擁する differences to their 地元の communities and beyond ― we were inundated with hundreds of incredible stories that spoke of bravery, self-sacrifice and astonishing 決意.

After much 審議, our パネル盤 of 裁判官s chose six worthy 勝利者s of this year's Daily Mail Inspirational Women Awards, held in 共同 with 示すs & Spencer, in support of The WOW 創立／基礎 (Women of the World).

Last month, the 勝利者s were 招待するd to Buckingham Palace to celebrate their remarkable 業績／成就s by WOW, which 作品 globally to 促進する gender equality, where they met its 大統領, Her Majesty The Queen.

On Monday evening, at a glittering 祝祭 儀式, they each received a トロフィー from presenters 含むing the 総理大臣's wife Akshata Murty, Angela Rippon and the Mail's Sarah Vine.

Speaking on Monday, Mrs Murty said: 'All the 勝利者s tonight are working to up light so many communities across the UK and I am 感謝する to have met them today.?

CAMPAIGNER FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH

Carla Cressy, The Endometriosis 創立／基礎

When the first calls started coming in to the Endometriosis 創立／基礎's 解放する／自由な menstrual health helpline last week it was a 十分な-circle moment for the charity's 創立者, Carla Cressy.

'I wish I'd had 接近 to something like this as a 十代の少年少女,' she says. 'If I could have spoken to a nurse fully 詩（を作る）d in the symptoms of endometriosis, I'd almost certainly have got 診断するd much sooner, which would have been life-changing for me. I might even be a mother now.'

Instead, and にもかかわらず 存在 under the care of a gynaecologist at 14, it took 11 years for Carla to get a diagnosis. That 延期する 最終的に led to her needin g a total hysterectomy at just 29 ― leaving her infertile and 急落（する），激減（する）ing her into 早期に menopause. It took Carla?Cressy 11 years to get a diagnosis for endometriosis, leaving her infertile and 取引，協定ing with 早期に menopause?

'Living with a stoma isn't 平易な and that has only just been 逆転するd,' says Carla, now 32. 'If I'd been put on a 治療 pathway sooner, I 疑問 I'd have needed so many 積極的な 外科s.'

Endometriosis is a painful 条件 that 原因（となる）s tissue 類似の to that which makes up the lining of the uterus to grow where it shouldn't. Fibrous scar tissue can then form, 原因（となる）ing 組織／臓器s such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and bowel to stick together. It's thought to 影響する／感情 around one in ten women― about the same as the number of people 影響する／感情d by 糖尿病 or 喘息.

'My symptoms were obvious and extreme,' says Carla. 'My periods were such agony I often passed out from the 苦痛. I bled so ひどく and irregularly, I became 厳しく anaemic. I was hospitalised several times because my bowel would stop working 適切に.

'Yet it took more than a １０年間 for doctors to join the dots.'

Carla, who lives in Surrey, 開始する，打ち上げるd The Endometriosis 創立／基礎 last March, with one over-arching goal: to 供給する women and girls with everything she needed but was never given. MOTHERS FIGHTING FOR BLACK WOMEN

Tinuke Awe and Clotilde Abe, Five X More

Tinuke Awe has a powerful message for maternal health providers across Britain. 'Start listening to 黒人／ボイコット women,' she says. 'Because if you 直す／買収する，八百長をする the problems we 直面する during pregnancy and childbirth, then you will 直す／買収する，八百長をする things for all women.'

Tinuke, 32, has been fighting for 黒人／ボイコット women to be heard by maternity services since 2019, when she joined 軍隊s with Clotilde Abe, a mental health 選挙運動者 with a background in maternity care.?

They were appalled by 統計（学） that said 黒人／ボイコット women in the UK were five times more likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth than white women.

'Hence the 指名する of our organisation, Five X More,' says Tinuke.

Today, that number has 減ずるd to 存在 four times more likely. 'We really hope our work has played a part in that,' she 追加するs.

'This was born out of my own very poor experience of pregnancy and childbirth, as a 黒人／ボイコット woman,' explains Tinuke. 'I put that 負かす／撃墜する to not 存在 listened to.

'I was told all through my pregnancy that I had protein in my urine, which can be a 調印する of pre-eclampsia. Yet nothing was ever done about that until the very end when I was 急ぐd into hospital with 危険に high 血 圧力 and then induced.

'It was a terrifying experience, made worse by the fact that no-one believed me when I said I was in agonising 苦痛 soon after the induction started. They 辞退するd to believe I could already be in 労働.

The pair were appalled to hear that 黒人／ボイコット women are five times more likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth than white women and 手配中の，お尋ね者 to do something about it?

'They left me for hours, without 苦痛 救済. When I was finally 診察するd I was almost fully dilated and it was too late for me to be given anything to help with the 苦痛. By then, I was so exhausted I needed an 補助装置d birth. I left the hospital 感謝する my son was 承認する, and just glad the experience was behind me.'

It was only when Tinuke began speaking to other 黒人／ボイコット mums about their birth experiences, and discovered they all had 類似して 苦しめるing stories, that she realised the colour of their 肌 might play a part. She began to 調査／捜査する, teaming up with Clotilde to see what changes they could bring about.

Clotilde, 34, says: 'We know the UK has one of the lowest maternal mortality 率s globally, but there is a （疑いを）晴らす 不平等 in who is dying and 苦しむing from the worst 結果s and that is what we are working to change. This is not a good place for 黒人／ボイコット women to give birth.'

Both women are thrilled that their work is 存在 celebrated. 'This 証明するs to us that the work we're doing really is helping create change,' says Clotilde.

PROTECTING OUR VETERANS

Claire Lilly, The Forcer 議定書

Claire says she is honoured to be 指名するd one of our Inspirational Women. Sadly, though, the life-saving work she does ― helping trace 退役軍人s at high 危険 of 自殺 who go 行方不明の ― was born out of 広大な／多数の／重要な loss to her family.

Claire's ex-husband, Alan, went 行方不明の in May 2020. At the time, she struggled to 納得させる the 11 different police officers she spoke to just how 攻撃を受けやすい he was.

A former lance corporal in the Coldstream Guards, Alan 苦しむd from コンビナート／複合体 地位，任命する-traumatic 強調する／ストレス disorder and 以前 試みる／企てるd to take his own life.

'Time was of the essence,' says Claire, 47, a holistic therapist who lives in Essex. 'I told police he was at 危険 of 自殺, that he 苦しむd from paranoia and was 麻薬 and alcohol 扶養家族. But the message got diluted.'

Tragically, three days later police 設立する 40-year-old Alan's 団体／死体 in woodland 近づく his home in Stockton-on-Tees.

GIVING GIRLS AN EDUCATION

Muzoon Almellehan, UNICEF 好意／親善 外交官／大使

From the moment she arrived in a 難民 （軍の）野営地，陣営 老年の 14, Muzoon Almellehan has fought for the 権利s of children ― 特に girls ― to have an education.

'Education isn't a 特権, it's a 権利,' says Muzoon, whose life was turned upside 負かす／撃墜する at 11, when war broke out in Syria in March 2011. She fled with her family to Jordan; home became a テント in Zaatari, one of the world's largest 難民 （軍の）野営地，陣営s. A month later, UNICEF supported the 開始 of the （軍の）野営地，陣営's first school.

熟考する／考慮するing helped Muzoon 焦点（を合わせる） on her 未来. But she discovered some girls, even as young as 13, were 存在 married to men in the （軍の）野営地，陣営 instead of going to school, because their families thought marriage would 保護する them.

In 2015, Muzoon arrived with her family in Britain, having been given 難民 status. Now, 老年の 25 and with a master's degree in 国際関係, Muzoon 作品 十分な-time for her 地元の 会議 in Newcastle helping 亡命 探検者s and migrants, 同様に as travelling the world as a UNICEF 外交官／大使 since 2017, （選挙などの）運動をするing for children's 権利s.

Lucy Vincent, Food Behind 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業s

When you think of a 囚人's day-to-day 存在, 関心 over the 質 of their meals might not be at the 最前部 of your mind. Which makes what former fashion 新聞記者／雑誌記者 Lucy Vincent now does ― working with staff and inmates to 促進する healthy eating through classes and workshops ― all the more important.

Lucy's 使節団 doesn't just make life better for people behind 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業s. It also 利益s society as a whole. Major 熟考する／考慮するs have 設立する that tastier, nutritious food can 意味ありげに 減ずる the 危険 of reoffending on 解放（する）.

Denmark, which spends £8 per 長，率いる a day on 囚人s' food, compared with £2.70 in the UK, has one of the lowest reoffending 率s in Europe, at 29 per cent. In Britain, where 48 per cent of 囚人s re-感情を害する／違反する within 12 months, it costs the taxpayer £15 billion a year.

支援する in 2016, Lucy, then 24, read a 政府 報告（する）／憶測 about the 悲惨な 質 of 刑務所，拘置所 meals, often eaten by 囚人s alone in their 独房s, sitting next to the 洗面所.

She began speaking with 刑務所，拘置所 知事s across the country, becoming 特に moved by the 苦境 of 女性（の） 違反者／犯罪者s, most likely to be in 刑務所，拘置所 because of 万引 or other 非，不，無-violent 罪，犯罪s. Although women （不足などを）補う only four per cent of the 刑務所，拘置所 全住民, they account for 29 per cent of self-害（を与える） 出来事/事件s.

'They're 攻撃を受けやすい, likely to have been living in care and many are 犠牲者s of 性の 乱用 and 国内の 暴力／激しさ,' says Lucy, now 31, who lives in Essex.
