  • にもかかわらず 凍結する and 5p 削減(する) staying in place, half of what we 支払う/賃金 at pumps is 税金

(ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 Jeremy 追跡(する) has 確認するd in the Spring 予算 that 燃料 義務 will remain frozen for a 14th 連続した year - and he will 延長する the '一時的な' 5p-a-litre 削減(する) for another 12 months.

緩和 some of the 重荷(を負わせる) of higher モーターing costs for Britain's drivers, in his 声明 to the ありふれたs on Wednesday, Mr 追跡(する) said: ''If I did nothing, 燃料 義務 would 増加する by 13 per cent this month.'

It is 概算の the 凍結する in 義務 will save drivers around £5billion-a-year. Yet 課税 on 燃料 will still (不足などを)補う more than half of what drivers 支払う/賃金 at the pump.?

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has confirmed in his Spring Budget that fuel duty will remain frozen for a 14th consecutive year

(ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 Jeremy 追跡(する) has 確認するd in his Spring 予算 that 燃料 義務 will remain frozen for a 14th 連続した year

In his 声明, 追跡(する) said: 'The 影をつくる/尾行する (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 complained about the 凍結する on 燃料 義務 and 労働 has …に反対するd it at every 適切な時期.

'The 市長 of London wants to punish 運転者s even more with his ULEZ 計画(する)s, but lots of families and 単独の 仲買人s depend on their car.

'If I did nothing, 燃料 義務 would 増加する by 13 per cent this month.

'I have decided to 持続する the 5p 削減(する) and 凍結する 燃料 義務 for another 12 months.

'This will save the 普通の/平均(する) car driver £50 next year and bring total 貯金 since the 5p 削減(する) was introduced to £250 続けざまに猛撃するs.'?

He 追加するd: 'Taken together with the alcohol 義務 凍結する, this 決定/判定勝ち(する) also 減ずるs headline インフレーション by 0.2 百分率 points in 2024-25, 許すing us to make faster 進歩 に向かって the Bank of England's 2 per cent 的.'

The 凍結する means 燃料 義務 will remain at 57.95p per litre, as it has done since March 2011.

The '一時的な' 5p 削減(する) on the 燃料 税金, which was first introduced in March 2022 by then-(ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 Rishi Sunak in a 企て,努力,提案 to neutralise 増大するing pump prices 誘発する/引き起こすd by the 突発/発生 of war in ウクライナ共和国, will also remain in place until March 2025.

It means 義務 on 燃料 will stay at 52.95p for the next 12 months.

財務省 公式の/役人s had 押し進めるd to 捨てる both the 凍結する and 義務 削減(する) after a 減少(する) in pump prices, but this idea was 拒否権d by Mr 追跡(する) as '政治上 untenable'.?

The news will be a 救済 to the nation's drivers 直面するing higher モーターing costs in 2024, すなわち a 法外な rise in 保険 賞与金s and the cost of 乗り物 修理s.

The 告示 also follows the biggest 月毎の jump in 燃料 prices?seen since September, with 石油 rising on 普通の/平均(する) by 4p a litre and ディーゼル by almost 5p in February as a result of higher oil prices.

The RAC's 燃料 Watch 報告(する)/憶測 said 石油 went up from 140.75p at the start of February to 144.76p by the の近くに, 追加するing more than £2 to the price of a 十分な 戦車/タンク (£77.41 to £79.62).?

ディーゼル 増大するd from 148.53p to 153.22p (4.7p) 増加するing the cost of filling up an 普通の/平均(する) 55-litre family car by £2.60 to £84.27.

That said, Mr 追跡(する)'s 決定/判定勝ち(する) regarding 燃料 義務 comes as very little surprise to many.

This is because the 現在の 政府 has seemingly 支援するd itself into a corner when it comes to its limp 意向s to 引き上げ(る) 燃料 義務, having frozen the 税金 on 石油 and ディーゼル since 2011.

In fact, Mr 追跡(する) is the seventh Tory (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 of the 国庫 in situ since the 凍結する was first 始めるd by George Osbourne.?

While the 凍結する has 利益d Britain's drivers, it has come at a big cost to the 財務省.?

に引き続いて last year's Autumn 予算, the Office for 予算 責任/義務's (OBR) 経済的な and 会計の 見通し 報告(する)/憶測 pointed to a 'planned 6p 増加する in the 燃料 義務 率 in March 2024', in line with インフレーション.

The OBR said that 増加するing the 義務 率 by RPI and 逆転するing the 一時的な 5p 削減(する) would raise 収入s by £3.8billion to £28.2billion in 2024-25, though that will no longer be the 事例/患者 に引き続いて today's 告示.

The Soci al Market 創立/基礎 (SMF) thinktank 見積(る)s that 14 years of frozen 燃料 義務 凍結する and the 5p 削減(する) since 2022 has cost the 財務省 £130billion since 2011.

The SMF coined 保持するing the 燃料 義務 削減(する) a 'regressive 政策', (人命などを)奪う,主張するing it 利益s the wealthiest in society who 運動 large, gas-guzzling SUVs who will save around £60 a year, while those who earn the least and 運動 more economical cars will save just £22, によれば its 分析.

Thom Groot, CEO of The Electric Car 計画/陰謀, 述べるd the 延長/続編 of the 凍結する on 燃料 義務 as a 'flip-flopping 政策', 説 a 化石 燃料 補助金 価値(がある) billions of 続けざまに猛撃するs a year could be 'far better spent on encouraging the uptake of electric cars'.?

He 追加するd that the 政府's inconsistent messaging over EVs has '劇的な slowed the uptake of electric cars'.

However, other 産業 insiders celebrated the 税金 break on 石油 and ディーゼル as a victory for the nation's 運転者s.

The Social Market Foundation thinktank estimates that 14 years of frozen fuel duty freeze and the 5p cut since 2022 has cost the Treasury £130billion since 2011. This chart shows the comparison between fuel duty forecasts and outruns

The RAC calculates that the 12-month 拡張 to the 5p-a-litre 燃料 義務 alone will save 運転者s around £3.30 each time they fill up, once factoring in the 衝撃 of 付加価値税.

Yet the モーターing group says retailers are swallowing up the 5p 削減(する) with higher 利益(をあげる) 利ざやs, which have inflated to 10p per litre in 2024, up from an 普通の/平均(する) of just 6p (on 石油) in the pre-pandemic year of 2019.?

'With a 総選挙 ぼんやり現れるing, it would have been a 抱擁する surprise for the (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 to tamper with the political hot potato that is 燃料 義務 in today's 予算. It appears the 決定/判定勝ち(する) of if or when 義務 will be put 支援する up again has been 静かに passed to the next 政府,' says Simon Williams, 燃料 price 専門家 at the RAC.

'But, while it's good news that 燃料 義務 has been kept low, it's ありそうもない drivers will be breathing a 集団の/共同の sigh of 救済 as we don't believe they've fully 利益d from the 削減(する) that was introduced just two years ago 予定 to retailers upping 利ざやs to cover their '増加するd costs'.'

The AA welcomed the (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長's 決定/判定勝ち(する), though pointed to the 利益 halving from £100 a year in Sunak's 2022 声明 to the £50 年次の saving 引用するd by Mr 追跡(する) on Wednesday afternoon.

It also said 一般に higher モーターing costs - whether 燃料, 維持/整備 or 保険 - are already 生成するing 大幅に higher 付加価値税 returns for the 財務省.?

On 石油 alone, the 付加価値税 on each fill up 生成するs over £2 for 政府 coffers.?

'More people have been 軍隊d into their cars by unreliable trains, 減ずるd bus services and higher 住宅 costs sending them その上の away to cheaper areas,' the AA said.

'会議s are ramping up parking costs, even いつかs 税金ing city 労働者s with a Workplace Parking 徴収する, to fill 穴を開けるs in their coffers.'

IAM RoadSmart director of 政策 and 基準s Nicholas Lyes said keeping 燃料 義務 負かす/撃墜する has come at a time when 運転者s' biggest 関心 is the cost of running their 乗り物.?

However, he caveated: 'We're disappointed there was no support within the 予算 to help younger drivers with the spiralling costs of モーター 保険. The (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 should have considered a 削減(する) to 保険 賞与金 税金 (IPT) for drivers under-25 who are 直面するing sky-high 賞与金s in 超過 of £2,000.'

Howard Cox, 創立者 of the FairFuelUK (選挙などの)運動をする, somewhat unsurprisingly celebrated 追跡(する)'s 決定/判定勝ち(する), 説 'millions of much-maligned drivers' will be 'more than delighted' with the 燃料 義務 凍結する for a 14th 連続した year, though dubbed 燃料 義務 a 'regressive, still-too-high 税金'.?

独立した・無所属 燃料 retailers also welcomed the 告示.

'This move is 均衡を保った to 緩和する the 財政上の 重荷(を負わせる) on 運転者s when they 燃料再補給する and is likely to be 井戸/弁護士席-received.' said Gordon Balmer, (n)役員/(a)執行力のある director of the 石油 Retailers 協会.

'PRA 高く評価する/(相場などが)上がるs the 政府's かかわり合い to reviewing 燃料 義務 率s and hope they will continue their 成果/努力s to 緩和する the 重荷(を負わせる) of high energy prices on 運転者s.'

Ian Plummer, 商業の director at the UK's largest car marketplace, 自動車 仲買人, was far from shocked by Mr 追跡(する)'s 告示, commenting: 'No self-尊敬(する)・点ing (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 would ever shoot himself in the foot by raising it in an 選挙 year.

'Drivers may 避ける higher pump prices for now, but the 凍結する does send yet more mixed messages to any 運転者s tempted to switch to electric 乗り物s.'

How much of what we 支払う/賃金 at the pumps is 税金?

With 石油 現在/一般に (based on 5 March 2024 data) 定価つきの at 145.0p per litre, 燃料 義務 of 52.95p accounts for over a third (37 per cent) of what drivers 支払う/賃金 at the pump today.

付加価値税 at 20 per cent is also 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d on 燃料, meaning 課税 makes up over half (53 per cent) of what 運転者s filling up with unleaded fork out each time they visit a forecourt.

For ディーゼル at a UK 普通の/平均(する) of 153.4p, 燃料 義務 accounts for 35 per cent of the total 燃料 法案, while 付加価値税 bumps the total to 51 per cent of the 十分な price paid at a filling 駅/配置する.

So, にもかかわらず 燃料 義務 not 存在 adjusted for the next 12 months, it's still a 事例/患者 of the (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 pocketing more than half of what drivers 支払う/賃金 at forecourts.

In cash 条件, that's around £43 every time the 戦車/タンク of an 普通の/平均(する) 石油-力/強力にするd family car is filled up in Britain.

How much does the 財務省 生成する from 燃料 義務??

燃料 義務s 代表する a 重要な source of 歳入 for the 政府.

The OBR says 燃料 義務s 徴収するd on 購入(する)s of 石油, ディーゼル and a variety of other 燃料s raise £24.4billion per year for the 財務省.

That estimation is inclusive of the 5p-a-litre 削減(する) and 義務 at a 率 of 52.95p a litre.

This 代表するs 2.3 per cent of all 領収書s and is 同等(の) to £867 per 世帯 and 0.9 per cent of 国民所得.?

What does the 政府 spend 燃料 義務 収入s on??

連合させるd with 乗り物 Excise 義務 (car 税金), the 財務省 生成するs around £35billion per year from 乗り物 and 燃料 課税.

Around 20 per cent of this is spent on road 維持/整備 予算s, with the 残り/休憩(する) used for general 政府 支出.

However, a 保守的な かかわり合い to (犯罪の)一味-盗品故買者 乗り物 税金 歳入 to 基金 road 事業/計画(する)s has recently been scrapped.

The 財務省 said 歳入 from VED goes into the 強固にする/合併する/制圧するd 基金 ? a general マリファナ of 税金 領収書s ? にもかかわらず 約束ing to 開始する,打ち上げる a new 国家の Roads 基金 (NRF) in 2020.

It 主張するd VED 'is 存在 reinvested' into road 計画/陰謀s.

The RAC said the 政府 'seems to have done a U-turn and are 静かに hoping it goes unnoticed'.

The Department for 輸送(する) (DfT) said in 2016 the 政府 '保証(人)s that all 歳入 raised from VED will be 配分するd to a new 国家の Roads 基金' from 2020-21, 追加するing this would be 'underpinned by 法律制定'.

Then-(ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 Philip Hammond said at his 予算 in 2018 that £28.8 billion from VED would be 投資するd in the NRF to 支払う/賃金 for 国家の 主要道路s' planned major road 計画/陰謀s between 2020 and 2025.

Simon Williams from the RAC said: 'We welcomed the 財務省 告示 that 歳入 from 乗り物 税金 in England was to be (犯罪の)一味-盗品故買者d for 未来 投資 in our busiest roads.

'The 政府 seems to have done a U-turn and are 静かに hoping it goes unnoticed.

'We believe the 創造 of the 国家の Roads 基金 would have been a 大規模な step in the 権利 direction as it 確実にするd around £6billion of the circa £45billion collected from drivers in all forms of モーターing 課税 each year would go 直接/まっすぐに 支援する into the roads that carry the most traffic.'

The DfT 発表するd in October 2023 that money saved from cancelling the northern 脚 of HS2 would enable it to 供給する 地元の 会議s in England with £8.3billion over 11 years to 持続する 地元の roads, 含むing 直す/買収する,八百長をするing potholes.

Mr Williams 述べるd this as 'a 減少(する) in the ocean considering the years of underinvestment and neglect'.

He 勧めるd the 政府 to (犯罪の)一味-盗品故買者 'a small 割合' of money raised from 燃料 義務 'to 確実にする our 地元の roads don't 悪化する any more than they already have'.

A 財務省 広報担当者 said: 'The 強固にする/合併する/制圧するd 基金 receives the proceeds of 乗り物 Excise 義務 and most other 税金 歳入s, such as those collected by HMRC.

'VED is 存在 reinvested into the English road 網状組織 between 2020-2025 to 基金 road enhancement 事業/計画(する)s.'

By 1915, this had 二塁打d to 6d, albeit with a 50 per cent rebate for 商業の 乗り物s.

However, just four years later it was 廃止するd under the 財政/金融 行為/法令/行動する 1919 in light of the first introduction of 乗り物 課税 and the 税金 レコード. Unlike 乗り物 Excise 義務 today, 課税 then was calculated in 一致 with the horsepower 率ing of a car.

It wasn't until 1993 under a 保守的な 政府 led by John Major that 税金 on 燃料 began to climb at a 重要な 率.
