火山s belching 毒（薬） gases wiped out the dinosaurs, say British scientists

The dinosaurs may have been wiped out by a 大規模な 一連の 火山の 爆発s that belched gas into the atmosphere, British scientists say.

A 一連の 爆発s that formed India's hilly Deccan 罠（にかける）s also pumped 抱擁する 量s of sulphur into the atmosphere 65 million years ago - with 破滅的な 影響s on the Earth's 気候, the 研究員s believe.

Gigantic 爆発s are one of two 主要な explanations for a 一連の 集まり 絶滅s that have killed off 広大な numbers of 種類 periodically over the last 545 million years.

Other scientists have 非難するd asteroids hitting the Earth - 一般に considered the prime 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑う in the 事例／患者 of the 絶滅 of dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

Up to now there had been 疑問s about the 殺人，大当り 力／強力にする of 火山s because 研究員s had struggled to 手段 just how much 有毒な gas would have been 解放（する）d.

But 穴掘りs in the Deccan 火山の 激しく揺する - known as flood basalt - led to the 発見 of traces of glass, 許すing the British-based team to analyse the gases it 初めは 含む／封じ込めるd.

令状ing in the 定期刊行物 Science, they 結論する that the 大規模な of 量s of both sulphur and chlorine 解放（する）d in the Deccan 爆発s would probably have had a "厳しい" 環境の 衝撃.

"Gases from a 一連の 爆発s of the Deccan 罠（にかける）s may have '乱打するd away' at life on the 惑星 at the time, 主要な to the 集まり 絶滅s,” said volcanologist Stephen Self of the Open University in Milton Keynes.

Dinosaur and volcanic eruption

The 火山s may have 噴出するd 10 times more sulphur into the atmosphere 毎年 than humans have done recently by 燃やすing coal in 力／強力にする 駅／配置するs and through other 産業の activities.
