Review: Columbia Beach 訴える手段／行楽地, Pissouri Bay, Cyprus - where Aphrodite still ぐずぐず残るs

Nestled in a 静かな valley, its secluded slopes 側面に位置するd by 有望な bursts of bougainvillea and fragrant jasmine, Columbia Beach 訴える手段／行楽地 申し込む／申し出s more than just mesmerising 見解（をとる）s.

For にもかかわらず its 孤立するd setting at the foot of a winding mountain road, there is little chance of getting bored while staying in one of the 94 高級な 控訴s that are spread through its grounds.

Perched above the glittering waters of Pissouri Bay, on the south coast of Cyprus, the コンビナート／複合体 住むs its own 私的な section of beach, 約束ing a sun-drenched 避難 from the 需要・要求するs of everyday life.

On arrival, my wife and I are 迎える／歓迎するd by the sound of crickets. The noise fills the 空気／公表する ? a welcome change from the usual wail of police サイレン／魅惑的なs and traffic noise （打撃，刑罰などを）与えるd upon us on a daily basis 支援する at home. And at 33 square metres, the junior 控訴 that we are 勧めるd に向かって almost matches our London flat for size.

My wife is すぐに impressed by the opulence of the marble-覆う？ bathroom. I'm just glad that the 空気／公表する-条件ing 作品 ? as our visit to the island 同時に起こる／一致するs with a heatwave, which 妨げるs us from even thinking of using our balcony during daylight hours.

にもかかわらず the hotel 存在 at 近づく 十分な capacity during our stay, the spacious grounds and 豊富 of sunbeds means it never feels （人が）群がるd. And it is undeniably civilised to be able to flit carelessly between the pool and the beach without having to save a space at some ungodly hour and stay put for 恐れる of 'lounger- scroungers' descending on your chosen 位置／汚点／見つけ出す.

Just taking in the 素晴らしい 見解（をとる）s over the Mediterranean from the 80-metre long lagoon pool ? with the 時折の visit to the poolside 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 ? is enough to keep even the most 需要・要求するing couple 占領するd for a day or two. Certainly, we have no （民事の）告訴s as our tans start to 深くする and the worries of life 支援する in Britain drift away.

There are water sports galore for adrenaline junkies. Or so I am told, because, comfy on my lounger, I struggle to even think about anything even ばく然と energetic. And certainly not ゴルフ. As a fairway refusenik, I'm 安全な from the allure of this most curious of sports. But for those who like to 行為／法令／行動する as modern-day Flintstones and spend the day with a club in 手渡す, there are three 選手権-基準 courses nearby.

For those 捜し出すing a little more from their holiday, there's plenty of culture on 申し込む／申し出 ? as long as you're 用意が出来ている to 雇う a car.

Blue wonder: Columbia Beach 訴える手段／行楽地 nestles nicely on Cyprus's south coast

Nearby are the 古代の 廃虚s of Kourion, a city kingdom which reached its 高さ at the start of the first millennium, before 拒絶する／低下するing in the wake of an 地震 in 365 AD.

Thirty minutes’ 運動 away, 一方／合間, Paphos and Lima ssol are Cyprus’s popular tourist 訴える手段／行楽地s, 申し込む／申し出ing the usual 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 and 白人指導者べったりの東洋人-boat experiences that many associate with the island.

But there is more to this Mediterranean 激しく揺する than sun and sand. によれば legend, Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite. The 古代の goddess of love ? so the story goes ? rose fully-formed (and perfectly naked) from the 泡，激怒することing sea, at a 位置／汚点／見つけ出す a few miles west of Pissouri Bay.

地元のs still （人命などを）奪う，主張する that a midnight swim at the 場所 ? known as Petra Tou Romiou ? 作品 wonders for your love life. Unfortunately, my wife and I never manage to put this particular theory to 実験（する）.

明確に, all this romance has rubbed off on the 訴える手段／行楽地. Columbia is home to the small, but 井戸／弁護士席-formed, All Saints chapel. Overlooking the Mediterranean, it makes for an undeniably 劇の setting to tie the knot. Designed to 似ている an 早期に Cypriot Christian building, its 内部の has been painted in a 暴動 of bold colours. It is, all told, a pretty place to 交換（する） 公約するs.

Columbia 訴える手段／行楽地 also 誇るs an award-winning spa ? having scooped the ‘Mediterranean’s 主要な Spa 訴える手段／行楽地’ gong at the 2009 World Travel Awards.

Unable to resist, my wife and I both have a '緊張-救済 深い tissue 団体／死体 massage'. Which seems to do the 職業. Perhaps it is the massage. Perhaps it is the 影響（力） of Aphrodite. But I 現れる from the experience feeling はしけ, happier ? and definitely いっそう少なく 強調する／ストレスd.

The food is what you would 推定する／予想する of a five-星／主役にする 訴える手段／行楽地. 井戸／弁護士席-made and 現在のd, if a touch unimaginative ? a little Cypriot meze here, a 繁栄する of international 中心的要素s there, the sort of fare that will keep all but the most difficult guests happy.

But with rooms in high season costing around £300 a night, is it wor th the expense?

This, after all, is no small sum. But there is something undeniably magical about Columbia, beyond the scenery and the attention to 詳細（に述べる）. It is 平易な to see why it should be popular with an 豊富な （人が）群がる who want to enjoy a 日光 break ? Kim Cattrall, Jack Dee and Piers Morgan have all rolled up here in (one assumes) their リムジンs to catch a few rays.

But the moment that makes out week truly special has nothing to do with celebrity glamour. Rather, it is a 星／主役にする turn from the Cypriot 野性生物.

On our last evening, we return to our room in the 早期に pre-夜明け after a hard night's partying with friends who are staying nearby. Taking a moment to unwind during the last twilight hour, we step の上に our balcony.

We are 迎える／歓迎するd by a cacophony of squeaks, a shrill 爆発 that 逮捕（する）s our attention.

A 植民地 of bats bursts 前へ／外へ, 渦巻くing in the gloaming ? hundreds of 黒人／ボイコット forms 飛行機で行くing in intricate patterns, hopefully in search of the next mosquito. Then, in an instant, they are gone.

It might 井戸／弁護士席 be a metaphor for our stay in Cyprus. Captivating, but over all too soon.< /p>
