Considering how important it is, it’s surprising how rarely we stop and think about our above-the-waist 衝撃 (ATWI for short).

明白に people thought about it plenty while Zooming in lockdown and I have a few friends who ― 支援する when we were all 選び出す／独身 ― were ATWI conscious on a date (save on shoes, spend on earrings!). But the fact is most of us look at ourselves in a 十分な-length mirror, check the 全体にわたる impression, and carry on.

This 最高の，を越す might not take you to a summer wedding but most of us are crying out for 解答s to all those in-between occasions, something special that turns up the dial without us having to do much.

You can go as ruffly, puffy and frilly as you like this season ― there are big sleeves, pintucked bodices and lace cuffs and pleat-trimmed collars ― but I’d recommend taking the いっそう少なく is more approach for the over-50s.

Still it 支払う／賃金s to be bold and something about this 最高の，を越す needs to make an 衝撃; a little floral print shirt will not 達成する the 変形 we’re 目的（とする）ing for.

Here are four styles that will up your ATWI 即時に.

1. Fabulous fabric blouse

Me+Em is the leader in fabulous fabric blouses and it has a high turnover so you move 急速な／放蕩な if you see one you like: my 現在の favourite is a 珊瑚 and purple bold floral print in a silk mix (£165, meandem.com). This one happens to have delicate white lace 削減するs and 肘-length sleeves, but the end 製品 is neither sugary nor girlish and it 作品 with 黒人／ボイコット trousers or dark denim.

The 代案／選択肢 is a わずかな／ほっそりした necktie blouse: a pussybow looks frumpy on the over-50s, but a sliver of a necktie on a silky blouse, softly knotted at the base of the neck, is more elegant than a plain collar.

I like Zara’s 黒人／ボイコット-and-white graphic print style (£49.99), an easier take on Prada’s 黒人／ボイコット-and-white print cape 最高の，を越すs, to wear with 黒人／ボイコット or colour-封鎖する trousers.

3. Puff-sleeved knit

I’m a sucker for a structured puff-sleeve knitted 最高の，を越す (in a cotton blend). They’re 削減（する） in an old-school way and a 広大な／多数の／重要な way to prettify casual 着せる／賦与するs like wide-脚 khaki trousers, a denim skirt or ジーンズs.

They’re also the 負わせる of a light cardigan which, let’s 直面する it, is useful in an English summer. A 海軍-and-white pattern is a classic, but my 現在の favourite is a 黒人／ボイコット lace stitch knit with what the label calls ‘pouf sleeves’, again it’s by Me+Em (£125) which has, as they say, 広大な／多数の／重要な desk-to-dinner 可能性のある. You can also try Boden for a big 選択 of pretty knits in cotton and wool.

4. Dress shirt

Not pretty but dressy, the 伝統的な men’s bib-前線 dress shirt adjusted for women by the label WNU (£150, withnothingunderneath.com) is the white shirt I’d make an exception for, because it’s so flattering (something about the 削減（する）) and makes your 黒人／ボイコット trousers look like they’ve walked straight off the catwalk.

Come the summer, worn with a 厚い, gold bangle and the sleeves rolled up, this shirt will make you look and feel Saint Laurent sophisticated and, of course, it will do just 同様に in winter.
