How Ollie Watkins made me eat my own words with his irresistible 陳列する,発揮する against 兵器庫, 令状s SIMON JORDAN

  • I'm not having complaining about playing too often. Why are 経営者/支配人s disingenuous over player 福利事業? Listen to the It's All Kicking Off podcast?

Ollie Watkins is having a brilliant season and is in irresistible form. He's on 解雇する/砲火/射撃.

He had a little bite 支援する at me the other day about 観察s I had made, seemingly forgetting that I've 賞賛するd him endlessly.?

Ahead of last Sunday's game at the 首長国s, I said I thought?兵器庫?were a better 味方する than 郊外住宅, would (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 them and would be able to を取り引きする Watkins.?

That wasn't me 減らすing him, I just thought 兵器庫 were a better team.

But on the day they weren't, 郊外住宅 were and he put in an 優れた 業績/成果 of 使用/適用, かかわり合い and 質.

I hope Gareth Southgate 選ぶs him - and Ivan Toney?- for the Euros this summer.

Much is made of him starting his career at Exeter but all that shows is that English football is working because a 広大な/多数の/重要な talent can find his level and 繁栄する.

Watkins has put in the hard work and is an honest, decent professional. He's a credit to himself and deserves everything that comes his way.

English football is becoming a mess of its own making

A sense of 大混乱 appears to be (海,煙などが)飲み込むing English football.

From 財政上の Fair Play and 利益(をあげる) and Sustainability 支配するs 主要な to points deductions to problems with VAR and the 質 of our 審判(をする)s. From the 溝へはまらせる/不時着するing of FA Cup replays to endless arguments about the iniquity of 歳入 配当 and the 切迫した arrival of an 独立した・無所属 regulator - the only 国内の league in world football to 可決する・採択する such a thing.

Everywhere you look, our game seems to be in a mess of its own making.

We have these all-消費するing, 不正に thought through 決定/判定勝ち(する)s that 欠如(する) 戦略の thinking. It's a 関心ing time because the result is this percept イオン of 大混乱 that seems to stalk our game.

We're losing sight of what football is meant to be about which is entertainment, 冒険的な excellence and meritocracy but now it's ますます about accountants and lawyers.

A major change to the FA Cup will see all replays from the first round onwards scrapped

A major change to the FA Cup will see all replays from the first 一連の会議、交渉/完成する onwards scrapped

This sense of 大混乱 is hardening 態度s but it's not yet turning fans away. What it's doing is perhaps solidifying people's discontent and 許すing 無線で通信する shows to be inundated with enraged 報知係s but that's what football does, it brings out emotions in fans 激怒(する)ing against the system. If people weren't 投資するd, they wouldn't be bothered but there 明確に is growing 失望/欲求不満 with the direction of travel.

Football needs to 直す/買収する,八百長をする itself. It needs clever, 戦略の, grown-up thinking and better communication. This challenging period needs not only big thinking but big thinkers. It 要求するs proper leadership to を取り引きする the problems we've got.?

Somewhat tragically, but almost 必然的に, these 問題/発行するs have opened the door to the 合法的な profession who are seeing opportunit ies to 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 clubs left, 権利 and centre. This isn't what sport was built for but it's what sport has become because at the centre of it all is 経済的な, 商売/仕事 and 財政上の globalisation and these things come at a price. Football's thinking is いつかs behind the curve of the 産業 it has now become and has to be better.

It's not irredeemable or beyond rehabilitation. The problem is that the FA have abdicated 責任/義務 as de facto regulator and, as a result, have no 支配(する)/統制する because we know they are a bunch of weaklings, as we saw when they 許すd Nike to design that absurd St George's cross on the 支援する of England's shirt.?

Football?needs clever, strategic, grown-up thinking and better communication, says Mail Sport columnist Simon Jordan

Football?needs clever, 戦略の, grown-up thinking and better communication, says Mail Sport columnist Simon Jordan

The FA waste their time with such nonsense rather than 取引,協定ing with the big 問題/発行するs. But that ship has sailed ーに関して/ーの点でs of the FA, there is no hope for them. They have been emasculated and have no 解答s to the really big problems. And by the way, I'm not sure the?首相 League's Richards Masters is strong enough either.

The consequence is that we're letting lunatics run the 亡命. That's what happens when there's an absence of leadership, a vacuum where people don't lay 負かす/撃墜する 戦略の, proper thinking.

But I have 約束 that football, out of necessity and after such enormous 行為/法令/行動するs of self-害(を与える), will get itself some counselling and 現れる on the other 味方する.

With FFP, I've always been an 支持する for it because I felt it would be a 機械装置 to help 支配(する)/統制する football's hyper-インフレーション but it isn't really doing that. It is (疑いを)晴らす to me now that it is the ultimate form of 保護貿易主義. Ask yourself who are the people making these 支配するs? When you work backwards from that you start to work out why these 支配するs were brought in and the 動機づけs behind them.

It's pulling up the drawbridge and making it 事実上 impossible to break into the エリート. It is strangling football and 投資 and it worries me. Why are we 軍隊ing this 経済的な asphyxiation on our game? I understand we're trying to 保護する community 資産s but the 経済的な model of football has changed. Now we're 説, let's shut 負かす/撃墜する 投資 because we perceive it to be bad.

Now of course some of this 大混乱 is 続いて起こるing because 冒険的な 許可/制裁s are 大(公)使館員d to FFP and nobody likes it. We've opened Pandora's box where people can take 合法的な 治療(薬)s to 解決する 冒険的な 事柄s. The result? More 大混乱.

Then you move into 審判(をする)ing and VAR. It was 権利 to bring in VAR but you've got to bring the best 見解/翻訳/版 of it to 高める the game, not detract from it. You cannot have a 状況/情勢 where 汚職 is pretty much 申し立てられた/疑わしい by a football club because some bad 決定/判定勝ち(する)s were made in the VAR room.

On 議席数是正, 井戸/弁護士席 that challenge has 存在するd since 1992. The moment the 大打撃を与える went 負かす/撃墜する on the 形式 of the 首相 League and the FA and EFL abdicated competency and 責任/義務, you were always going to have these problems. So now, with the introduction of the 独立した・無所属 regulator, we're going to strangle the 商業の energy that has brought about the vitality of the most successful pyramid in world football.

Then there's the FA Cup. I'm a purist and a 広大な/多数の/重要な 支持する for the Cup but 溝へはまらせる/不時着するing replays is no 広大な/多数の/重要な 罪,犯罪. Any club that 予算s for a replay is stupid because you've got no certainty for it. This confected 乱暴/暴力を加える will be easily 取り去る/解体するd by bigger TV 配当s. If the clubs moaning about it were given more money from the TV 取引,協定s in 交流 for giving up replays then bang, end of discussion, no more (民事の)告訴s. I value the FA Cup but we have to 受託する the world has turned and over-sentimentality gets you nowhere.

If people keep 存在 told everything's terrible in our game, they 結局最後にはーなる believing it. This self-flagellation we seem so keen on in this country has to stop. Other leagues around Europe have their own problems, I do not 解任する any of our big clubs 存在 booted out of leagues like Italy or 汚職 主張s about undue 影響(力) on 審判(をする)s as in Spain so let's not lose 視野.

Whilst we cannot (人命などを)奪う,主張する this is our finest moment and must 演説(する)/住所 these challenges, it's wrong to 示唆する we are on the slippery slope to nowhere. 粉砕するing ourselves to oblivion is not the 解答. These are real world challenges and our 返答 to them will define the 未来 of our game.

Why I don't 行方不明になる 存在 a football club owner

I was recently asked if I 行方不明になる 存在 伴う/関わるd in the game. As we approach the final weeks of the season when 肩書を与えるs, relegation, play-off places and European 資格 will be decided it got me thinking.

Football club 所有権 is a very difficult place to be and while the thrill of this 行う/開催する/段階 of the season gets your 血 pumping, it's still something you have to sit 支援する and watch 広げる on you.

So, do I 行方不明になる 存在 伴う/関わるd? I certainly 行方不明になる the 影響(力) football has and the lessons I learned could be better used than flapping my gums in the マスコミ, but no, I'm not harking to be inv olved again.

I watch with a degree of envy and 救済 these days. Envy, because I see the wonderful emotions the game brings but also 救済 because I wouldn't want some of the challenges the game 直面するs now.

I would like to 直す/買収する,八百長をする them but as a football owner I wouldn't be able to!

Being a football owner can bring a lot of challenges, which I experienced at Crystal Palace

North London is red, but Tottenham need patience

It has been 示唆するd that 兵器庫 under Mikel Arteta are 類似の to Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, a nearly team.

But it's not a fair comparison. I said last summer that 兵器庫 would need to spend £250million to stand still and while they have stood still - I fancy them to finish second again - they are a better team now and competed 井戸/弁護士席 in Europe. The 所有権 model at the two clubs is different, 特に in the preparedness to spend money.

兵器庫 fans will no 疑問 point to Arteta's lockdown FA Cup 勝利,勝つ in 2020 but that was in the 早期に months of his 統治する. This is his team now and have not, yet, won what they 始める,決める out to 勝利,勝つ which is the 首相 League 肩書を与える.

Arsenal are a better side than Tottenham going into Sunday's north London derby

兵器庫 are a better 味方する than Tottenham going into Sunday's north London derby?

One thing is 確かな , 兵器庫 are 支援する on 最高の,を越す in north London but patience is 要求するd at Tottenham. If they finish fifth under a new 経営者/支配人 and having lost Harry Kane on the eve of the season then they will have 越えるd 期待s.

They have flattered to deceive at times this season, raising 期待s but everything at the club looks better than it did this time last season. Let's see how 刺激(する)s get on next season after another 移転 window before 裁判官ing Ange Postecoglou, who has said he does not see a 最高の,を越す-four finish as a badge of honour, he is 目的(とする)ing higher than that.

I'm 推定する/予想するing a very good game but my gut feeling is that 兵器庫 will 勝利,勝つ a derby that be a defining (判断の)基準 for both teams.

Tottenham need to remain patient with Ange Postecoglou as he continues to rebuild the club

Stop complaining Pep, 申し込む/申し出 a 解答 instead?

I understood where Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta were coming from when bemoaning their schedules but that's the rub I'm afraid, the price on the ticket.

Guardiola is a genius of a football 経営者/支配人, a remarkable leader of men but you have to 受託する it. If you're going to take all the rewards ? the 賞賛する, plaudits, 利益s and 財政上の remuneration, then now and again you're going to have to 受託する these things.

Pep Guardiola is an example of a manager who moans but offers no solutions to his problems

Pep Guardiola is an example of a 経営者/支配人 who moans but 申し込む/申し出s no 解答s to his problems

No one's getting 発射 running for a ヘリコプター like in Platoon, they are playing in a football match and so I'm sorry, use your squads and 回転/交替 players.

This is what happens when you give 経営者/支配人s too much 力/強力にする - they say what they want, when they want. They 申し込む/申し出 no 解答s, but just complain about the problem. If they want to put 今後 a structured 計画(する) of how they see this working between 放送者s and clubs - and remembering they're getting paid 抱擁する salaries because of those TV 取引,協定s - rather than tell people how it doesn't work then maybe that will be considered.
