Mexican 魔法: The beaches are exquisite, but so are the 洞穴s and 廃虚s - 告訴する Lawley 調査するs the wonderful Yucatan 半島

Donald Trump may (or may not) want to build a 塀で囲む to keep Mexicans out of the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs, but his fellow 国民s holiday over the 国境 in their droves. And for good 推論する／理由.

For Mexico does not 欠如（する） variety. Beyond the beach and ゴルフ, it has culture, 野性生物 and adventure. You can zip on a wire across the ジャングル, swim with イルカs, learn about 古代の civilisations, go to a show (Cirque du Soleil is a big 攻撃する，衝突する) or 運動 for miles 負かす／撃墜する its long, beautiful coastline.

The Yucatan 半島 juts into the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and most of its hotels open on to beautiful white sandy beaches. I chose two in Playa del Carmen ― one an all-inclusive 訴える手段／行楽地, the other a boutique hotel.

The 広大な 訴える手段／行楽地, Grand Velas Riviera Maya, is three hotels in one: a section for adults only, another for families and a third, called ZEN, 始める，決める apart from the beach, for those looking for a more intimate experience.

You can eat, drink and swim in any. There’s only one 支配する ― children under 12 aren’t 許すd in the adult bit.

Its size is 圧倒的な at first, but grows on you. People can be sniffy about all-inclusive 取引，協定s, but there really are no extras here: meals, drinks and activities are all in the price. The kids’ club and 十代の少年少女 hangout are open all day.

There are eight restaurants, 含むing a French, an Italian, two Mexican and Asian. I ate in most (this wasn’t a holiday for dieting) and all were good.

The hotel 直面するs its own big stretch of beach, the rooms are 抱擁する, the staff attentive. It’s like a 高級な 巡航する liner that never goes to sea.

If you can drag yourself away, there is plenty to 調査する beyond its 塀で囲むs.

Here are my 最高の，を越す three 選ぶs: First, go 地下組織の. Yucatan has no surface rivers. All its water lies beneath. It’s reached through cenotes, 沈む 穴を開けるs, where the land has 洞穴d in to create pools.

I 調査するd the wonderful blues and greens of the Rio Secreto, swimming through 洞穴s of stalactites and stalagmites in a wetsuit with a lamp on my 長，率いる. Turn it off and you’re 急落（する），激減（する）d into total blackness ― an eerie, but exhilarating experience.

Visit Valladolid, an old city dotted with wonky 植民地の 時代 churches, smart boutiques, a delightful handicraft museum and restaurants with secluded gardens.

And go to a 廃虚. Yucatan is Mayan country, home to a sophisticated 古代の civilisation that disappeared after the Spanish conquest.

The remains of their 解決／入植地s can be seen all over the 半島.

Visit Sian Ka’an where, after an archaeological 小旅行する, you can 調査する the 抱擁する nature reserve, walk through a rainforest (jaguar and lemur advertised, but never spotted); take a boat across two lagoons and swim 負かす／撃墜する the 狭くする freshwater channel that links them (crocodiles について言及するd but, happily, never turned up).

My second stop was the Hotel Esencia, a hacienda-style mansion with only 29 rooms, 始める，決める まっただ中に a beautiful, shaded garden of trees, birds and iguana. The main house was once the 私的な hideaway of an Italian duchess and is 前線d by more than half a mile of beach. It’s enchanting.

The hotel belongs to an American, Kevin Wendle, who bought it two years ago. Thanks to his relentless attention to 詳細（に述べる）, it enjoys an atmosphere of relaxed charm.

It’s sophisticated without 存在 posh. Children splash happily in one of the pools and guests pad about in beachwear. Rooms are spacious and 静める; painted white 石／投石する, 木造の doors and windows with pretty shaded terraces.

If you 計画（する） to travel around (which you should), then 雇う a car. The taxis are clean and 安全な, but expensive.

Mexico is still learning about 観光旅行，事業. This means that 地元のs go about their 商売／仕事 with a sense of 目的 and a genuinely friendly 態度.

With U.S. 大統領の 希望に満ちた Trump trumpeting his 敵意を持った 見解（をとる）s, you might think they would be a little touchy. Not a bit. I 設立する them unfailingly 肉親，親類d and proud of their country. And they have a lot to be proud of.
