In February 2023, Alexander Campbell waved goodbye to his friends and family in Sydney and 始める,決める off on a 40,000km (24,854-mile) walk.

He 計画(する)s to circumnavigate the globe in four years, crossing over 30 countries and four continents.

At the time of 令状ing, he's covered 10,239km (6,362 miles) and is 地位,任命するing updates to his Instagram account -?@alexander_campbell. Alexander concocted the idea over a beer with his best friend. The 27-year-old told MailOnline Travel: 'I spent a lot of time looking at 地図/計画するs and dreaming up possible ideas. And then it somehow snowballed into, "Why don't I go all the way around the world?"'

He 追加するd: 'It's definitely been the most eventful year of my life.'

Alexander began the adventure at Sydney オペラ House and spent six months walking across Australia, covering up to 50km (31 miles) a day, 耐えるing scorching heat and going days without seeing another person.

After that, he took a boat from Darwin to Indonesia, where he visited islands 含むing Bali, Flores, Lombok and Gilli Trawangan.

Then, he walked through Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. He has 避けるd 飛行機で行くing when possible, but jumped on a 計画(する) from Thailand to Bangladesh.

He's been 基金ing the trip まず第一に/本来 from his 貯金, and with the help of an adventure 認める from Australian Geographic. Throughout the 旅行, he's been staying in cheap accommodation and with 地元の people - and pitching a テント where possible.

Alexander told MailOnline that there have been several memorable 最高潮の場面s, one 存在 引き上げ(る)ing the 国家の 追跡する in Australia, from Queensland to Victoria.

He said: 'It was a 広大な/多数の/重要な way to get to know better the country I call home, and it was so nice 存在 out in the bush and enjoying the 孤独.'

Out of the さまざまな countries he's visited so far, Indonesia ? which 構成するs 17,000 islands - is Alexander's favourite.

He explained: 'The people were incredibly friendly, and the food was 広大な/多数の/重要な. Each island was unique and there are so many 火山s to climb.'

Alexander (人命などを)奪う,主張するd he was most surprised by Bangladesh.

While he 認める he was a 'little nervous' to visit 予定 to the 欠如(する) of tourists, he said 'it ended up 存在 amazing'.

He explained: 'The people were incredible and 迎える/歓迎するd me with such warmth. And because of their love of cricket, everyone was 特に excited to learn I was from Australia.'

While he hasn't hated anywhere, he said walking through a 季節風 in Malaysia 'definitely stands out as one of the least enjoyable times'.

However, he said: 'The food was 広大な/多数の/重要な and the people were lovely, so it was still enjoyable.'

He's also 遭遇(する)d his fair 株 of 障害s on the trip and has dodged his way around さまざまな dangerous animals, 含むing scorpions, snakes and wolves, 加える the aforementioned crocodiles.

The nail-biting water-瓶/封じ込める-filling 出来事/事件 occurred in Australia's Northern 領土.

Alexander said: 'I saw a crocodile jump from the bank into the river as I approached. It was another 60km [37 miles] until my next water source, so I had no choice other than to fill up my water there.

'It was かもしれない the most 脅すd I've been on the trip. I spent the next 30 minutes just watching for crocodiles. I 結局 設立する a 位置/汚点/見つけ出す with some water visibility and worked up the courage to quickly fill up my water 瓶/封じ込めるs and get out of there.'

While there's a long 旅行 ahead of him, he (人命などを)奪う,主張するd he's never considered giving up.

'There are challenges and unpleasant 面s at times,' he said. 'But the 推論する/理由 I went on this 旅行 was to challenge myself and hopefully grow from these experiences.'

He's also 動機づけるd by raising money for the Fred Hollows 創立/基礎, an organisation working に向かって ending avoidable blindness and visual impairments. So far, he's raised AUD $16,710 (£8,627) for the 原因(となる).

What will he do once he's done trekking? He said: 'I'm looking 今後 to hanging out with my friends and family.

'But ーに関して/ーの点でs of my life path, I'm not too sure. I've got a lot of walking left to do and time to think it over between now and then.'
